Automatic construct bug - no results or crash. Any workaround / solution?

Hi there, I have been using the automatic construct feature, and it is generally very helpful.

However, there is a common problem while using the Holmstedt syntax module for auto constructs:

Because of the complexity of this module, it often complains that it cannot build the automatic construct because it would need more than 15 coloums:

If I select "clause" instead of "sentence," Accordance crashes, version 13 and 14:

I added your crash report to the list of Accordance 14 features needing resolution so our developers can look into it. Remind me about this on Monday as well, as I can also get Tech Support to take a look.

Hi @Anonymous,

I agree it should not be crashing, but I think the problem is that you are selecting too many words. The warning box is saying there cannot be more than 15 columns, and if I am counting right, I think you have 16 columns. Remember that little words like "and" "like" etc are all counting as new columns. Does it still crash if you select under 15?

Yes, I understand, but sometimes even half a verse produces the same problem. So, they should not be limiting the search to 15 columns - especially in Holmstedt syntax, which makes more lines than words with the added nulls.

No, it does not crash under 15 columns...

Thanks for the response.

Hi @Anonymous,

I agree the 15 columns seems sort of arbitrary, but it is certainly important diagnostically that it does not crash under 15 columns.

I am not sure if this would be helpful, or even work, but since it might be awhile before this is addressed, maybe you can try doing a construct of the first part, then a construct of the second part, and then gluing the two together into one construct. I am not entirely sure how, but it might be worth messing with it to see if it can serve as a temporary solution.
