Accordance Enthusiast
I'll post screenshots etc. of bugs already discussed and confirmed, and maybe some new ones. Please note that all these bugs are on windows 10, and Accordance 14, though many also exist on Acc. 13. This is not just one issue, and this is super frustrating as even the sample searches often don't work. The syntax is very good, but searching is currently very poor.

Accordance Enthusiast
Confirmed bug: Compare the results from the Holmstedt Syntax documentation (1), with the results I get (2) (1) (2) Next to a preposition I get two flags instead of one.
Accordance Enthusiast
Another Bug. Here is the sample search no. 3 from the documentation: (Also crashes with no. 2) Here is mine: It crashes every time and does not search anything.
Accordance Enthusiast
Confirmed bug: If I set search depth to 0, it still finds hits across distinct phrases, as shown above also: So, though it has the depth set to 0, the allow hits in "sub-clauses" allows the search to find the hits across two phrases on the same level. Though not subordinate as @Robert Holmstedt said above, this is still called a "sub-clause" in Accordance? You see, if I set this to "don't allow hits in sub-clauses", ONLY THEN is Gen 45:8 excluded from the search: Now it gives the correct results. It should give the same results in both searches.
Accordance Enthusiast
Sample search not working: Here is the search. Accordance complains that it is invalid. Yet this is in the sample searches. Edited January 17 by Anonymous
Accordance Enthusiast
Another common problem. The auto construct is supposed to make life easier, but often does not work and finds no results.
Nathan Parker
Thanks! I’ll make sure the developers see this.
Accordance Enthusiast
8 hours ago, Robert Holmstedt said: The first two words are not "under" the clause because they are at the conjunction level. On Ps 2:8, I'm running into some obvious searching bugs that have appeared since I last put the syntax searching through the paces (I increasingly simply use the underlying database). I was able to get Ps 2:8 as a hit on the two searches below. But -- critically -- NOT when I put both the complement AND adjunct into the search (and this SHOULD work). Additionally, when I looked just for the imperative verb followed by a null subject, I got similar hits (e.g., Deut 4:32, Judg 18:5, 1 Kgs 2:20; Jer 18:13) but NOT Ps 2:8. Clearly another bug. I've done some digging and the bugs are not in my database. 7 hours ago, Robert Holmstedt said: Ok, more playing. Below worked, but only when I deleted the Complement Phrase level and simply inserted Null-Complement and raised the depth =1. That is just odd. It won't hit anything if I include the phrase level above the null-complement, even though this actually the formal structure. Mr. Robert Holmstedt confirmed these bugs on Accordance. I really hope that these bugs in the Accordance searching will be fixed as I really like the syntax and want to use it more often. Accordance Enthusiast
Sample search 10 finding false hits: Compare screenshot from documentation: with my results, including many more hits - false hits. E.g. the first verse includes false hits compared to sample search (and compared to the search specifications).

Nathan Parker
Pinned this topic in case someone else wants to chime in with other syntax search issues. We may need to devote a particular update just to resolve the syntax search issues, either before or after we resolve some other bugs with Accordance 14. There’s enough issues here where it may take releasing an update that focuses on just these issues.
Nathan Parker
I’ve moved this to Windows Bugs since we’re collecting all of the Windows bugs in one section. This’ll make it easier for other users to chime in so it doesn’t get lost. I’ve also ensured it’s pinned in this section.
Accordance Enthusiast
Thanks Nathan, BUT @Robert Holmstedt also confirmed a number of these bugs, and his profile shows that he used Mac. Thus, these bugs are not limited to Windows.
Nathan Parker
Good to know. I’ll leave the thread here since your screenshots are on Windows, but I’ll notate these bugs affect both Mac and Windows.
