Julia Falling Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I've reported this using Report a Correction, but mss D links to D05 Bezae Cantabrigiensis instead of D06 Claromontanus in the Pauline epistles.
Jonathan C. Borland Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Julie, you're pretty sharp to catch that!
Julia Falling Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 Thanks. I really love textual criticism even though I'm a novice, or maybe a pre-novice. The more I learn, the more I appreciate what the Lord has given us in His Word, and the more I appreciate all the scholars who have discovered and studied the mss. 1
Rick Bennett Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I'm surprised this wasn't accounted for already; we'll check it out and correct.
Julia Falling Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 Another FYI, already reported as needing a correction: Within the apparatus itself, D does not always mean D05 or D06 — it might mean Δ037. In the list of mss, those from 035 through 044 are preceded by Latin letters instead of Greek. Without some familiarity with the system, it can be very confusing, especially when D shows up as a supporting ms for two different readings! See Jesus vs. Lord in John 4:1. The order in which D shows up in the second list (after W) should give it away.
Helen Brown Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 There is really no need or point to post corrections on the Forums as well as sending them to the corrections address. The latter is preferable, and we do our best to correct each text as needed, but certainly not each time there is a correction noted.
