Sten-Erik Armitage Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I am having a problem with the Accordance fonts on my MacBook Air. On my iMac where I did an upgrade to 10, all is well--I can export and use Helena and Yeheduit with no problems. On my MBA I did a clean install of Accordance v.10 (never had it on this machine in the past). Accordance works great, but it won't export Helena or Yeheduit content. I've verified the settings in preferences, and all is as it should be. In checking Font Book, the fonts aren't present in the system. I'm exporting as Unicode for the time being, but I like the typographic quality of the Accordance fonts. Any ideas? What am I missing? Thanks for your help, Sten-Erik <><
Joel Brown Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Try running the Font Fixer to see if it cleans up the issue: http://www.accordancebible.com/Accordance-Installers#FontFix
Sten-Erik Armitage Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 Hey Joel - It sounds like that will fix the problem... However http://www.accordancefiles1.com/products/fontfix10.dmg isn't found on the server. Is the link out of date or suffering from a typo? S-E <><
Randy Cue Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 (edited) S-E this link should work. http://www.accordanc...tallers#FontFix Just figured out what you meant and you are right. Sorry. Soli Deo Gloria, Randy Edited December 26, 2012 by Randy Cue
Michael J. Bolesta Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 The problem is not with the link to the download page. The link on that page to the DMG file is broken.
Joel Brown Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Oops, seems some filetype confusion, as the latest Font Fixer was uploaded as a zip. Until we fix it and reupload as a dmg, here's a link to the zip: http://accordancefiles1.com/products/fontfix10.zip
Sten-Erik Armitage Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 It worked! The fixer dropped the fonts in my HD root directory. I used Font Book to import the fonts, and good to go. Thanks for the help!
Helen Brown Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 The web page and link are now correct on the AccordanceBible site.
Julia Falling Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Hey - The Accordance fonts are displaying perfecting in Accordance. However, they are not available to other programs (Pages, etc.) and they are not in Font Book. I found them on my HD by just double-clicking on the HD icon on my desktop. They are installed at the root level (is that the right term?). Looks like this. I have right-clicked to view them in Font Book, and then chose to install them. After supposedly installing and restarting my computer, they're not in Font Book, or in the list of fonts in ~/Library/Fonts. Additionally, if I right-click to view Yehudit in Font Book, I get this. Yehudit, and all the other fonts, display correctly in Accordance. I have run Font Fixer (thanks, Joe - it has solved problems in the past), but with no change. Confused. I was reluctant to just drag and drop the fonts into the Font folder, especially with Yehudit looking so weird in Font Book. Help, please.
Ken Han Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Julie, you seem to have some unusual Accorsance problems. Is there something special about your system? Any system wide modifications? Years ago Logitech wireless keyboard driver caused a havoc wih my Accordance installation. I don't remember now how I figured it out, but my problems were resolved when I removed Logitech driver. Maybe something in your system is causing problems?
Julia Falling Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Nope. Nothing weird or unusual about my system at all. Late 2008 MBP 2.53 GHz Core Duo, 8G RAM, 750G HD w/437G free running up to date ML. I've been having the Set Text/Tool Display problem off and on for some time, but I'm not the only one, I just discovered - Dr. J is having the same issue. Because I had not done a clean install of the OS since I got this machine, I did one at the beginning of the month, getting rid of a whole bunch of software that would no longer run on my MBP (same had been carried along from machine to machine since my first eMac in 2001?), and old drivers for devices I no longer use. Nice, clean install. All I use on this machine is the built in keyboard and trackpad, or the Apple bluetooth keyboard and trackpad when connected to an external monitor. The display issue was going on before the clean install, went away for a while with the introduction of 10.1.2, but now it's back. Joel and I are working on that. I discovered the font issue when I opened a document this morning that contained both an ML installed font plus Helena. The Helena was not displaying properly. That's when the hunt for source of this problem began. What is odd is that all the fonts display perfectly in Accordance. I've restarted Accordance multiple times, rebooted the computer after the supposed install of the fonts into Font book, and so on. And I've run Font Fixer (for version 10) a couple of times. At this point, I don't want to do anything else without the go-ahead from someone who knows more than I do (that includes a whole lot of folks).
Julia Falling Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) OK. Did a search on the web, moved the fonts into ~/Library/Fonts with all apps closed. Opened Font Book. Helena displayed properly. Yehudit still weird. Accordance still perfect. Quit all apps. Connected MBP to Mac mini through our home ether net. Trashed the weird Yehudit. Pulled a good copy Yehudit from the mini to the MBP/Library/Fonts. Restarted. Accordance perfect. Helena perfect. Yehudit perfect. Problem solved, but have no idea why it occurred in the first place. Ken Simpson Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Hi, we all know that Julie is special, but this time it's not really the case (at least to my knowledge). All the fonts are now stored within the Accordance 10 app itself, rather than in the ~/Library/Fonts or /Library/Fonts folder. This means (I think) that in a normal install of Accordance, the fonts that come bundled - like Yehudit. Helena etc, are not available to other apps on the system. Font fixer remedies this by placing those fonts into the system.
Julia Falling Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Ken - Font Fixer didn't put them into the system. I ran Font Fixer. Even reinstalled Accordance and ran it again when the fonts hadn't shown up in ~/Library/Fonts. The only thing that worked was physically dragging them there. I think it is odd that they had been installed installed at root/system level.
Ken Han Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I actually did a clean reinstall of OS X, not upgrade, so the HD was formatted and empty, and then installed Accordance from the installer I downloaded from the website. Apparently Accordance installer now installs the fonts into ~/Library/Fonts where I see 29 Accordance fonts. I'm not sure when this changed, but there they are!
