Bugs in GThom

Han Kle

Recommended Posts

I already reported some bugs via email but nothing happened, so I wrote in a blog — an Rick Bennett answered that I should report ... which I have done. Well.

Here some screenshots

Here the mistake begins:

Verse 52:2 is not labelled correctly.

Here verse 113,1 is marked missing... where is it?

Found it ...

funny enough — don't you think??

See the other pictures for reference...

Well, maybe someone can fix this mess. Thanks.

Thank you. we will follow up on this. It's best for us to report a correction from the program by highlighting the text and going to the Help or the right-click menu to choose Report a Correction.

Dear Helen,

you got those already (in beginning of june) — as I wrote... but nothing happened. :(

My experience in reporting textual errors is that the Accordance folks let them accumulate, make the corrections, and when enough (whatever is enough) changes are made, a revised module is pushed out via Easy Install. It is not practical to expect every erratum to prompt a new version. Printed books have errors too! I understand the frustration, but try to be patient. You are not being ignored.

Indeed, it is simply not efficient for us to correct each error as reported, although occasionally they are serious enough to warrant that. Otherwise we would spend all our time fixing little typos, and never get any new modules or new features out.

Thanks for posting Han. When I first commented on the blog I didn't know you had already emailed, but now that we've got both, I'm sure we'll be able to track down the issue and push out an update in time.

edit: I looked at the screen shots in more detail and they were very helpful, since a couple of the issues are not typos but related to verse alignment. Easily fixed; we'll get to it as we are able. Thanks!

Yes, Rick,

that's exactly what I thought. If it were a typo everything Helen and Michael wrote makes perfect sense.

This is actually something different. two or three tiny corrections would solve the problem. I already thought about preparing my own custom text and fix the mistakes myself...

Thanks for looking at the screenshots :)

Is there any chance that this will be fixed someday?

It really is not that much work to do. I tried it to fix it myself but as Thomas is not one of the regular bible books it won't work :((

Yes, sorry for the delay. I'll flag this as a priority.

Are there any other tools like this with German language translations? :)

It was already fixed but lost in the shuffle of the many updates of late. We submitted it for release this morning. Thanks for the reminder, and your patience.

This was somewhat unique in that German was the native language of the editor, and so they likely prepared that first, then the English. I can't think of any other resources like that off-hand.

The update to GTHOM-D is now posted, though it may take a few minutes before it shows up for download. So sorry for the delay. We keep our developers really busy.

It is currently appearing as a paid upgrade from version 1.0 to 1.1

I think I found and fixed the issue, again it may take a short while.

Actually it came for me right away.

Please report any further discrepancies using Report a Correction.

In German we say:

Was lange währt wird endlich gut!

or in Latin ;)

Diu manentes tandem bona fiunt.

in English like:

Good things come to those who wait.

Wow and all texts are linked to their proper translation!!
