mbcvida
All of a sudden, when I try to type in the character (+) to find roots, it will not input. The same is true for the character wildcard (?) and the exact form (=) and the symbol for inflected word (' or "). I can insert these symbols through the search menu, but not with my keyboard. Has anyone else had this problem?
Helen Brown
Do you have the caps lock or another key depressed? Have you tried a restart of the computer?
mbcvida
Yes, I have restarted the computer - no caps lock on - I have the same issue whether I am using the keyboard on my MBP or using my wireless keyboard with it. I have latest version of Accordance and the latest Lion. I have run the font fixer, but that did not fix. The search symbols work fine with the keyboard when in other languages (Hebrew, English, Latin) but not in any of the greek texts (GNT, LXX, AF-T, NA27...) --- any ideas? mbcvida
I just discovered that I can input the search symbols by holding down the option key or the option shift key (gives the shifted character). I must have changed some kind of keyboard setting or something? Any thoughts?
Lorinda H. M. Hoover
Check the very top of your screen, near the right side (i.e. menu bar). Is there a flag icon? If so what is it? Click on it to see a list of "keyboards" you can switch to. Try a different option. (e.g. "U.S." if something else is chosen). Can you use those keys in other programs? mbcvida
Yes these keys work normally everywhere except in any search box which requires Greek input. They work normally in Hebrew searches, English and Latin searches; everywhere except where Greek input is required. My language is English (US flag). I have noticed however, that when I change my system keyboard input to greek polytonic (from U.S.) and look at the keyboard viewer that the layout shows the + and = keys to be reserved for breathing marks with accents, which is what I get when I try to type these keys into the middle of a word in Accordance searches. So it appears my computer may be keyboard confused (I know I am)
John Brownie
It sounds as though the Greek Polytonic keyboard layout has become active for the Greek input fields. Accordance works with a Latin keyboard layout active in the search field when searching for words in a Greek text. Try going to that field and selecting a different keyboard layout. There was (I think) in one or more versions of OS X an option to change keyboard layouts to match language, which may be part of what is going on. It's not there in my Lion system, so I may be remembering incorrectly.
mbcvida
my bad! I discovered that my problem arose from checking "use Greek polytonic keyboard" in the Accordance preferences under Greek/Hebrew - unchecked and all works as previous. Thanks for everyone's input
