rgallo
Hello Accordance I would like to know if anyone knows about this Hebrew Heritage Bible. I saw it advertised on CBN News. Would this be a good module for the Accordance Library. Any Feedback would be great. If not they have the paperback edition on their website. Dr. Nathan Parker
I haven't heard of it.
Kristin
Hi @Dr. Nathan Parker, I had never heard of it either, but it is apparently a dynamic equivalence paraphrase. On his website he uses the example that Jn 14:2 is translated as "In my father's family there's plenty of room." @rgallo, I sort of think that dynamic equivalence is sort of niche, and I am not sure how popular it would be here enough to warrant the license. Have you looked into some of the other paraphrases Accordance has?

I haven't heard of this translation before, but I wonder if it is similar to Jewish Annotated New Testament (2nd Edition) (2017) https://www.accordancebible.com/product/jewish-annotated-new-testament-2nd-edition-2017/

JANT is study bible notes. In the printed copy of JANT you get the NRSV (or the new really sound version!)but it will run with any translation in accordance. the important feature of the JANT is that the bible study notes are written by Jewish scholars, many of whom were involved in the notes for the Jewish Study bible which uses the JPS TANAKH translation. So with the JANT you get a cultural perspective in the bible study notes on a standard text rather than yet another translation which 'the newer testament' appears to be (along similar lines to willis barnstone's 'the restored new testament'. I also have the new testament written by nicholas king, both volumes seemed like a good idea at the time but in reality i have not used either after the week of the initial purchase and they now just take up shelf space for over ten years.) Michael J. ukfraser
In addition, the Tree of life web site is well worth visiting and subscribing to. There is even more information there about the translation process and other insights. But certainly add it to your accordance library so all information is in one place. https://tlvbiblesociety.org/pages/our-translation Edited June 9 by ukfraser
Dr. Nathan Parker
Good discussions. On this one, I could add it to my list to look into when I start Bible development if Accordance users think it would be worth looking into. There's other Bibles I'd work on first, but I'm willing to at least think about it (or use it as another way to get more practice). :-)
rgallo
Hello OK Thanks for the Feedback @Dr. Nathan Parker @Kristin @Brian K. Mitchell @Michael J. Bolesta @ukfraser I think I will pass on this one. Just curious. I will stay with your recommendations. I have the JANT. I will check the TLV.

Baruch Kvasnica
Hi @rgallo @Dr. Nathan Parker @Kristin @Brian K. Mitchell @Michael J. Bolesta @ukfraser I have a copy of the Newer Testament Translation and it is not a fly-by-night translation but a serious work by a Hebrew University trained professor and as such is worth having in Accordance. It would be very handy to compare the other serious Hebraic versions (Tree of Life Version, Complete Jewish Bible). It will be interesting to see if the translation stands up to other scholar's scrutiny and will be more transparent after a Annotated Version of the Newer Testament translation is published (sounds like it is in the works.) Here are some articles/interviews about it: - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trC70dfL1T4 - https://www.jpost.com/judaism/christianity-deeply-rooted-in-judaism-new-bible-translation-claims-645791 - https://hebrewheritagebible.com/
Dr. Nathan Parker
Thanks! I'll go ahead and look into it further when I start Bible development.
