Brian K. Mitchell
Question for Zsh (Z -shell) users: (1) Do you use the framework 'oh my Zsh' with Zsh? (2) If so why? If not why not?
Lawrence
@Brian K. Mitchell This framework is new to me. It looks interesting, but I think I prefer a more standard and minimalist setup. Unless I'm doing something specific that requires a lot of heavy-lifting by frameworks, it's usually quicker to just program up a shell script as needed (compared to learning a new framework), using whichever shell was loaded straight out of the box. jlm
I installed it a few months ago because I found it recommended for shell autosuggestions. I also installed the git plugin. I’m not completely happy: on my Intel MacBook it made shells slow to start, but this isn’t an issue with an M3 Pro. It has also made my shell history common to all shells. There’s probably a way to turn that off, but I haven’t gotten around to looking into how to do that.
