Microsoft Defender Periodic Scanning for Windows PC with Third-Party Antivirus Installed

If I have an active third-party antivirus installed on a Windows 11 PC, is there a benefit of having Microsoft Defender's "Periodic Scanning" enabled? I can't find any articles about it.
