ukfraser Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 (edited) From another thread on interlinear, i was doing some searching for a number. when i enter the number in the mounce greek lexicon, the word is found when i enter it with a G prefix it cant find the word. the screenshots show resource and search info i was using but its the same for both g/k and strongs. Yet other lexicon searches require the prefix as detailed in the other thread (update: and nidntte, see exaple below) what is going on? Is this a bug? Edited August 6, 2023 by ukfraser
ReformedDoc Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 (edited) I'm on Windows & changed the drop-down panel to G/K numbers. I see options on yours what options does it give you? Edited August 6, 2023 by ReformedDoc
ukfraser Posted August 6, 2023 Author Posted August 6, 2023 (edited) Thanks, so had i which is why im surprised it couldnt find the word when i used the G prefix but can without it. And it calls itself a flex search but just the number part is showing highlighted in the result in the second screenshot but the G is clearly there. Edited August 6, 2023 by ukfraser 1
ReformedDoc Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 i opened the module up & did the search that way. 1

ukfraser Posted August 6, 2023 Author Posted August 6, 2023 (edited) Interesting i get exactly the opposite results with nidntte where i get no results for just the number and have to enter the G prefix so its definitely some inconsistent coding somewhere along the line. i dont usually search this way which is why i havent noticed it before. having looked at some of my other lexicons, they just list the number and no prefix in the text. Dr. Nathan Parker Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 I can confirm this, so I've reported the issues with both Mounce and NIDNTTE. 1

Dr. Nathan Parker Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 I tested this on my iPad, but I will likely proceed with installing it on my M2 MacBook Air this week. :-)
Dr. Nathan Parker Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 I tried running the search in Mounce's Greek Dictionary on Desktop. I get the same results as iOS. I see what I originally did and @ReformedDoc did. We both used Mounce's Expository Dictionary, not Mounce's Greek Dictionary on Desktop. With Mounce's Expository Dictionary, I can search with a G in front of the number. With Mounce's Greek Dictionary, I cannot.
ukfraser Posted August 17, 2023 Author Posted August 17, 2023 Thanks, hopefully we can look forward to either standardisation in all resources for searching or preferably some form of flex where the software doesnt care whether we use G / H or not. ;o) 1
Dr. Nathan Parker Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Yeah, I'll chat with our programmers about it and see if that's a potential feature request. The good news is at least it isn't a bug. 2
