Accordance App wants access to files in my desktop folder

I have recently started to get this messages, maybe after I upgraded to Monterey: "'Accordance app' would like to access files in your Desktop folder. Vot der Dumboozle is this?  Is this letting Accordance invade my computer at will?  What happens if I "don't allow"? Thanks in advance

PS I went ahead & hit "OK" though I don't know what I have done, since Accordance seemed like it would not start without a response. So what have I now done? & is there anyway to get out of it?  Since 2008 I have been using Accordance without consenting to such a thing; why now?

In some recent versions of macOS, Apple has changed their “privacy” and “security” policies where apps now have to ask your permission before accessing certain files or folders. In Accordance’s case, I set it to “Full Disk Access” under System Preferences/System Settings so I wouldn’t have to deal with any of these prompts. I’ve done that with a handful of other apps (Logos, Nota Bene, etc) I trust as well.

Here’s a couple of articles on the changes in macOS:

Accordance isn’t trying to “invade” your computer, and even if you set Accordance to Full Disk Access (like I did), it wouldn’t do anything different to your computer than how it’s functioned in the past. Apple has simply added in new “features” to macOS where it wants you to give apps permission before accessing certain files and folders, etc. I can see some benefit to this if I’m trying out an app I’m not sure about, but since that’s rare, and I generally use trusted apps, I’ve found it to be more of an annoyance. If you find it as annoying as I do, you can let Apple know here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/.
