jarcher
I'm interested in using the INFER search within Revelation to look for possibly instances of recapitulation. However, using INFER to search the same source / destination texts always results in every verse being a hit because it matches itself. Is there a way to use INFER and exclude hits that reference the same verse?
dandennison
Assuming one verse list constrained to the book you are querying is called Source, then in the verse list called Destination: [INFER 5 Source] <AND> [RANGE Rev]

Have you tried removing the <AND> from between the INFER command and Range command?

Usually I don't even use the <AND> but set the search range.

Hmm, if you don't mind me asking what is the source tab I see in your picture?
dandennison
Yes, what is the "Source", since if it isn't constrained to the book of interest every verse will be a winner

dandennison
Your source is Revelation so it follows that it has 100% hits. Here is an example with Source in Ezekiel:
jarcher
Yes, agree. That's the point I'm making. That INFER isn't functional for searching inferences / echos / allusions / quotes that occur within the same book of the Bible. I think there should be a way to say something like, "If the inference verse = the source verse then exclude it". Quote Is there a way to use INFER and exclude hits that reference the same verse? dandennison
You could almost get there by going iteratively by chapter (Rev 2-22; then 1,3-22; 1-2,4-22; etc) but yes I agree this would be a good feature.
