mhanel
When selecting Check for Content Updates, the box sometimes freezes and crashes and sometimes no updates show. For this particular crash, I then clicked the Easy Install tab, which populated my installed purchases and then clicked the Updates tab again and that is what caused the program to crash. Upon restart I was asked if I wanted to restore from the crashed instance and now the Updates window is fully populated with content updates. Then I close Accordance, reopen it and Updates procedure works normally with no crashes. This Update-related crash has happened frequently. ==== Accordance Crash Log Crashed at: 13:22:13:961 On: 3 of Dec, 2021 Eastern Standard Time Accordance 13.3.2 (13.3.2.0) Windows 10 (10.0.19043) RAM: 25048MB free of 32693MB total Disc: 336GB free of 931GB total Message: Access violation Address: $00000000 Backtrace: $00000000 $009FF93C $005D8301 $004DE55C $0059D25C $0057C1BC $0057D296 $005808DD $00582FCB $75A131DB $75A0A17A $75A09559 $75A07B9F $6DB59887 $6DB48D4B $6DB1EB3F $6DB8245A
Billy32792
Hi, Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I hadn't really heard of this so I tried it myself and sure enough it happened exactly as you said. I will file a report with the programming team, but the difficult part is that I tried repeatedly to reproduce it again, but I could not. That makes it 'intermittent' and really hard to track down. We need to learn what conditions precede this crash so that we can reproduce it on demand. Thanks again.
Erhard
I have had it crash as well. The other thing that I find is that when it shows that it is about 80% done on the bar for installing that it freezes there. Then you have to shut Accordance down and the new resource is installed when you start it back up

There's a bug there of some sort because this happens frequently, but try as hard as I can, I can't get it to work every time. Usually after crashing and restarting, it's resolved. So something might be getting cleared out when the crash restart process happens that unsticks whatever it is that gets stuck. This morning, I tried it again, and same thing. When I do check for updates, the Check for Updates box comes up, but it's blank inside. No modules listed for update. No spinning mouse. It's just sort of a dead box. I click over to Easy Install on that box and it brings up the Load Purchases and all is fine. Now I click back to the Updates side and crash. Now I restart and check for updates again and boom everything works like it should. Edited December 7, 2021 by mhanel
Billy32792
Yes, you are right and we understand because it happened to us as well. I have filed the report already. The programming team will look into it and hopefully this intermittent issue will happen when they test it. I did send your crash log as well as mine. Hopefully they will get this corrected soon. Thanks. 2
Michael Musgrove
I've had this happen at times. I notice this most often if I have installed a content update and then mess with the dialog box. This was my specific situation: 1) It seems I previously deleted my accordance interactive atlas files, so it had to redownload them. 2) It downloaded them, accordance let me know the folder didn't exist, and continued with installation after I clicked "ok". 3) I tried to exit out of the easy install dialog box, but it would not exit; therefore, 4) I clicked on the "updates" tab and it crashed. No, my files did not fully install, so I have restarted the process. gpront
I'm not sure if this is related, but as a retired programmer, I suspect it may be: When I invoke Easy Install and click "Download All", in Windows, the resulting dialog box freezes and becomes essentially "modal" (which will mean something to your programmers). I haven't tested it extensively to see what else might be locked out by the modality, but I can't close the box or access other Accordance panes, or exit the program without using Task Manager. This seems to happen to me only if there is an open browser window in Accordance. I don't know if the browser has to be the active pane or not, but I CAN still close the browser, and that seems to free the dialog box.
nick.try
I too experience this issue on two Windows 10 Pro workstations.
dandennison
I had the same thing happen. After I finally got everything installed, clicked over to the Updates tab and then this: Accordance Crash Log Crashed at: 18:53:22:325 On: 11 of Apr, 2022 Pacific Daylight Time Accordance 13.3.2 (13.3.2.0) Windows 10 (10.0.22000) RAM: 22712MB free of 32552MB total Disc: 1659GB free of 1862GB total Message: Access violation Address: $0000C1D0 Backtrace: $0000C1D0 $009FF93C $005D8301 $004DE55C $0059D25C $0057C1BC $0057D296 $005808DD $00582FCB $76877CE2 $7685719A $768568A2 $7687E21C $76855CE6 $6BFDB36F $6BFE915B $6BFAB74A
dandennison
Inferring from the 2 backtraces in this thread, whatever is at $009FF93C or perhaps even $005D8301 (assuming $009FF93C is in a 3rd party library) is likely code to have a look at. @Silas Marrs @Mike Garrity

ksrobichaux
May I join the choir? Same song and tune on Windows 11. I'm glad the programmers are onto it. Thanks! Accordance_2022_05_28 14_52_33.txt
Erhard
I just installed the 13.3.3 update and the updating still causes a crash, so I guess they are still trying to find the bug and squash it
Billy32792
We have had some success removing the General Settings to correct this on some Windows PCs. Accordance Safe Mode will allow you to easily remove or disable User Content, Settings, Connectivity and do Clean up for troubleshooting purposes. In order to open Accordance Safe Mode on a Windows computer, press and hold your ‘alt’ key ‘immediately after’ you click on the icon to open Accordance. Please select ‘Remove General Settings’ and then relaunch Accordance. This will reset some of your personal preferences and you will need to put in your name and account information again, but this is normal. Hopefully this will help. How many personal preferences get reset? Is there a list of what is lost so that it can be restored?
