Papers sync error 0

When I make a new paper on my Mac (Catalina, 10.15.7) and try to sync with my iPad (iOS 14) the mac gives me an "I/O error #0." The paper shows up on my iPad but with no text that I had typed. The text remains on the paper on my Mac with the same file name and the text I typed--it will not sync to the iPad.

 

Thoughts?
