gpdancy69
Hi can anyone help me on a particular search I want to carry out in Greek texts (NA28 & LXX) I would like to search for οὐ μή whenever it is part of a question but when I do this for the NA28 using the Greek Construct it only finds Rev 15:4. I have three columns: Lex=οὐ, Lex=μή, Char ; However, I know it also occurs in John 11:56 and 18:11 from having done the search in search bar "οὐ μή" <followed by> .; I can't work out why the Greek Construct search won't work and what I'm doing wrong. I would like to use that search on the LXX but don't trust the results and if I add any other conditions it gets too complicated for the search bar. Thanks for any help and apologies if I'm missing something obvious.
jarcher
Something weird with the construct that I can't get working either. Try this. (οὐ <FOLLOWED BY> <WITHIN 1 Words> μή) <FOLLOWED BY> <WITHIN 20 Words> .; Edited February 24, 2021 by jarcher
Λύχνις Δαν
Something like this will work when run with Chapter scope. The problem appears to be that you cannot run this query with Sentence or Clause scope. That unfortunately means you get false positives, and a lot of them if you allow for long sentences. Thx D

mgvh
Hmm... problem with the construct search, it seems to me, is that the CHARACTER does not understand the semicolon for the question mark. Try this as a just a regular search. "ου μη" <FOLLOWED BY> .; Set the scope to verse. I get 5 hits: Luke 18.7; John 11.26, 56; 18.11; Rev 15.4 (There are 93 instances of "ου μη" clauses in the GNT, and only one of those (Gal 4.30) has a word (γαρ) between the ου and the μη.)
