ray robinson
It appears Accordance has trouble importing text files that have apostrophes. I attempt to import a plain text file into a new Accordance User tool and get these spurious characters where apostrophe marks are, for example a sample of the import; happened and never make this mistake again.‚Äô I asked her at the time about other options, and she said ‚ÄòDo you want to finish uni?‚Äô; I said ‚ÄòOf course‚Äô and she replied ‚ÄòWell you can‚Äôt think otherwise‚Äô ... I don‚Äôt remember making the decision Looking at the plain text file beforehand, it looks clean and no spurious characters, just the apostrophes. I can repeat this result with a second import. The plain text file was exported from a Pages document. I’m using Accordance 13.1.1 OS 10.15.5 on a 2020 MacBook Air 1.2 G i7, 16G. Joel Brown
It looks like your file is UTF8, try converting it to MacRoman first.
ray robinson
Thanks very much for the quick answer but I have no idea how to do that. A quick search on Google tells me I might have to get into coding. Is that the case or is there a simple way to import a text file? Thanks in advance Ray Robinson
Joel Brown
I think the free program BBEdit is fantastic for working with text files. Just open up your source file in BBEdit, and at the bottom where it says 'UTF-8', change that to MacRoman, and save.
