I've set mine up to make use of some Google CSE (Custom Search Engines) I had previously created. In this way I can search across a number of websites with just one click.

CSE: Theological Journals (see screenshot for list of journals searched)

https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=015777567458053496735:xe_ge5guamg&q=***

CSE: Christian Resources (see screenshot)

@Drewster listed one way to get info from BibleGateway, but another option I find helpful is to call up their verse in all English translation options. I.e., if you have the mouse over a verse reference in Accordance and then use this link, it will pull up all the English versions in BibleGateway on a single page for that verse. (It only works for single verses.)

https://www.biblegateway.com/verse/en/***

= ... biblegateway.com/verse/en/***

Regarding use for Scaife, you can do a search based on word and that works. But I am also interested in being able to look up a work and location in that work. Say select the chapter:vs in Epictetus and amplify to Scaife and get the same work at the same location. Now I have done only the simplest experiments to prove that the search URL is the wrong one. Does anyone know how to set such a thing up ? It would be very useful to get multiple Greek texts and translations for non-biblical texts side by side.

Note, this may well not be an issue with Accordance, and I may just need the right Scaife URL, but I ask in case anyone has done work on this issue that will save me time. I haven't played with amplify to website enough to know but I assume it can amplify to verse ref at least for biblical works.

Thx

D

mgvh, that's very cool! It works even when selecting a single number verse reference. The entire verse reference is passed to BG and all the translations show up. I see more translations than I do via Text Browser. I don't even have to select the little verse number, I can simply right-click on the verse number > Website > Bible Gateway.

Thank you!

Perseus is the usual way to access the Liddell-Scott-Jones lexicon and its links to further resources, but if you just want to quickly access the LSJ definitions, the Diogenes site is quicker. Use this:
https://d.iogen.es/parse?user=acad&dweb=1.003&popup=1&do=parse&lang=***
https://    d.iogen.es/parse?user=acad&dweb=1.003&popup=1&do=parse&lang=***
(remove space after the https://)

Thank you to everyone who posted links in this thread. I actually do not know how to connect any of these websites to accordance. I'm fumbling with it. Is there a guide?

Christopher.  I use a Mac, but I would imagine the functions are pretty much the same.

1.   Go to Acc prefs.

2.  Go to external websites...

3.  Add sites, reorganise, delete etc,..

4.  Don't forget to enable the sites you need

5.  Close prefs.

6.  In any text or module right click a word...

7.  Scroll down to 'website' and then pick the search site of your choosing.

8.  That will open a new Accordance Web window and perform the necessary search.

The advantage being is that most bible references will be live and you can cross ref back to your accordance modules.

I hope this works for Windows...

Paul.

Thank you. Is it possible to avoid popups?

After selecting your word, the amplify menu and the amplify icon on the menu bar does the same.  Unfortunately, the web items are near the very bottom of a fairly long list and you still have a drop down menu.  Sadly, there is no Keystroke / shortcut (that I'm aware of).

Does any one know if Moulton and Milligans Vocabulary of the Greek Testament can be targeted in some way with the search to website function?

Does anyone know what I would need to enter into Accordance Preference —> External Website
to enable me to pass selected Latin text from Accordance to be translated by say Google at

I currently manually copy the selected text and then paste it the above website.
I am hope to be able to avoid the copy and paste steps, and just select text, then right-click-Eternal Website ...

Thanks

Lookîng through this thread (which I'm just seeing for the first time, strangely enough), my first reaction as a low-tech user is, Wouldn't it be fantastic to have a webinar on this? It all looks a little daunting to me, yet I'm sure it's probably not too complicated and it would open up great avenues for research! Any takers?

I nominate @Mark Allison to lead a webinar on this.

I sent many correction reports to @Mark Allison. I guess he has enough to do.

That's for sure!

However, I'll be glad to lead a webinar on creating website links. I'll let Linda know and she'll put it on the schedule.
