KevinPurcell Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 (edited) Notice that in the window panes there are no X buttons to close and no Drop down arrow on the tabs. What happened and how do I get them back? BTW if I click where they out to be that zone works as it should. Edited May 1, 2020 by KevinPurcell
Douglas Fyfe Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 I'm not a tech guy, but two thoughts: Are they there but only appear when you move your mouse there? It is hidden for me but when I move to the top right of the tab it reappears. However, the one for the pane are always there, whereas it doesn't seem to be for yours. Which leads me to: Have you tried turning it off and on again? When I get strange behaviour (I've heard it called "remnant" before), I just restart Accordance and it all seems to work out again. Failing either of those, perhaps someone with some technical know-how can help you out.
KevinPurcell Posted May 6, 2020 Author Posted May 6, 2020 They are just not there and turning it off and on again doesn't do a thing. So I guess no one has any help for me.
KevinPurcell Posted May 6, 2020 Author Posted May 6, 2020 I just remembered that I have the Windows Insider installed on my desktop so I decided to look at my laptop, which I'm not using much since I'm stuck at home mostly. It works fine on there and the laptop doesn't have the Insider Preview installed so this is somehow an issue with the newest version of Windows and Accordance. 2
KevinPurcell Posted May 9, 2020 Author Posted May 9, 2020 Final update: I was having other problems with the Insider Preview of Windows, so I reformatted and reinstalled and all is well. So it's an issue with the May 2020 build of Windows 10, which makes me nervous since that's the next version coming out probably this month. 2
ScottDF Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 These are frequent on Windows Insider builds and if you report them, nearly always I've found them missing in the final. Well, to be honest, they are usually missing even when I don't report them. 1
KevinPurcell Posted May 15, 2020 Author Posted May 15, 2020 I decided to eschew the insider preview. Reformatted and reinstalled everything and all is well. No longer gonna be a guinea pig for MS. I used to enjoy getting them, but this is the second time I've had a problem that affected productivity so no more. It seems that companies are not doing as good a job of testing in private before going public with betas. 2
ScottDF Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Umm, having done beta testing professionally and avocationally for several decades, these types of bugs are precisely the things we are looking for in the testing. Insiders Previews from Microsoft are specifically not for production use. They are to find the problems like you experienced. I do fully agree, however, they are a major nuisance especially when you get used the overall high quality of the previews. I have often used beta software in production and then discover a 'gotcha'. Aargh.
Paul Meiklejohn Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 (edited) Kevin, it's probably not your issue. However on a Mac, if the programme is on 'Full Display' all the enlarge, reduce and hide buttons disappear; (red, green and orange). I appreciate you're well versed in computers, but sometimes its the silliest things. Edited May 15, 2020 by Paul Meiklejohn
