Pen Stops Working Windows 10

I'm trying to use the Pen feature in my windows 10 -- Accordance 13, but it seems like it freezes and it stops working after a couple of highlights.  I want to make a connection between one word/phrase and another, but all of a sudden it stops working.  I have to restart Accordance and sometimes even the pen thickness will change and the color too without me touching it.  I like the fact that the lines and connections stay as actual highlights, compared to "whiteboard mode," but it's kind of hard to get it to work without it freezing.
