chadbrooks Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Hey guys, first post here. I have been using Accordance for 3 years, and I updated to version 8 at SBL. I am working on a major project and I am having problems exporting to Apple Pages. I know that some folks like Mellel(?), but I love pages and I don't remember having issues exporting Hebrew before, but I don't remember if I was doing entire verses. I also can't use the unicode font, so I am making do with Yehudit (I am supposed to be using Bibleworks Hebrew, but don't tell my teacher). What is going on is that I am getting a mirror image whenever I copy/paste into my editor. I tried in three separate word processors and I get the same problem, no matter what font I am exporting in. I finally was able to get it to work right in pages, setting everything to start on the left side, but I can only export right if I have multiple texts open, if I just have my BHS the pasting puts the text out of order (but not mirror imaged). Please help, and thanks in advance.
Thomas Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I know it's not what you want to hear, but Mellel is what you want for handling Hebrew beautifully—any Semitic language for that matter. LinguistSoftware's LaserHebrew in Unicode looks looks great on a fresh paste out of Accordance.
Helen Brown Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I would test by pasting into TextEdit. If it pastes correctly there, your Accordance settings are correct, Accordance is working correctly, and the problem must be in Pages. Remember to upgrade to the latest Accordance (8.1.3 currently).
Thomas Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Hi Chad, I wanted to let you about LinguistSoftware's updated font, LaserHebrew in Unicode. It works perfectly with a copy/paste out of Accordance into Mellel---I know, the thread was about Pages, but I had made a comment about the font, so I need to update that comment here. The complex cantillation and vowel marks are beautifully displayed with their font. If you want your text to look like the BHS, this is the font. Since my post in December, they had come out with an update to the font that makes that post void. They're a great company and have products that are a nice complement to Accordance. http://www.linguistsoftware.com/lhebu.htm Best, Thomas Here's an example from Ps 1
Rick Bennett Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Here's an example from Ps 1 How does it look in OpenOffice.org?
