Roman Mazur
Hello Accordancers I found in a small research this (seems to be) strange information in greek analysis in LXX of Ralphs: ἔπειμι (10 total words) Number of different forms = 7: (Triple-click a form to see its occurrences) ἔπειμι (ἐπί, εἶμι_2) to come upon, near, after = 5 ἐπέσται = 1 ἔπεστί = 1 ἔπεστιν = 1 ἐπῆσαν = 2 ἔπειμι-2 (ἐπί, εἶμι_2) to come upon, near, after = 5 ἐπιόντα = 2 ἐπιόντι = 1 ἐπιοῦσα = 2 In the New Testament (NA 28) for the same verb I found: ἔπειμι_1 (5 total words) ἔπειμι_1 (ἐπί, εἶμι_2) to be upon, so set upon, remain (sum) = 5 Verb present participle feminine singular dative = 5 VERB = 5 Feminine = 5 Singular = 5 Dative = 5 In LXX is one of them to be analysed as ἔπειμι (ἐπί, εἶμι_1)? If so, which one? Is the NT analysis correct? Thanks for any help! Roman
Λύχνις Δαν
Good question. I looked in LEH and it shows : ἔπειμι (ἐπεῖναι)+ V 2–2–0–0–1–5Ex 8,18; 9,3; 1 Kgs 10,16; 2 Chr 9,15; 4 Mc 1,10to be upon [ἐπί τινος] Ex 8,18; to be set upon [ἐπί τι] 2 Chr 9,15ἔπεστί μοι [+inf.] it is right that I should 4 Mc 1,10ἔπειμι (ἐπιέναι) V 1–1–0–3–0–5Dt 32,29; 1 Chr 20,1; Prv 3,28; 27,1; Od 2,29fut. of ἐπέρχομαι; to come upon; ἐπιών following, succeeding, next Dt 32,29; ἡ ἐπιοῦσα (sc. ἡμέρα) the next, the following (day) Prv 3,28A Greek-English Lexicon of the Septuagint, 223.https://accordance.bible/link/read/LEH-3#15881 I think the tagging needs to be updated to identify the 'to be' forms to use ειμι-1 but I don't see that in the LXX module. It seems it has ειμι, ειμι (to go), ειμι-2 (to go). So it seems it has two forms of the 'go' form - not sure why. I read a couple and they seemed reasonable.
