Citations and allusions in Modern Hebrew New Testament

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi,

Some editions of The Modern Hebrew New Testament by the Bible Society in Israel include Hebrew Bible citations and allusions. For instance, in my paper edition the citations appear inside quotes with Bold text, which alerts the reader to look for the reference at the bottom of the page. In the case of Matt. 2,6, you will see this at the bottom:

ב 6:  מיכה ה 1

Also, L's edition puts hyperlinked citations in brackets:

Compare this to the Acc version:

I would love to see citations and allusions hyperlinked in the Acc version as well, but without brackets like in L. It would help to read things in context.

Please forgive me if these are already in the Acc version and I just missed it.

Thank you for your consideration.

Regards,

Michel

Edit: It would help to read things in context, first, by identifying the verse, second, by jumping to the verse and reading it in its original context.

Edit #2. In addition, some of the OT texts that the BSI consider allusions are quite interesting.

Yes, I see what you mean here. My guess is that the source files we originally received on this (10 yrs ago?) may not have retained the bold text for the allusions, or that we did not format it correctly if it did. It may be possible to update this some time in the not so distant future to retain the correct formatting.

Thanks for the feedback.

Remember that you can use our Parallel module OT in NT with any text, though it may not search for allusions. Those can often be found with the INFER search.

Hi Rick,

I actually had checked, and should have mentioned, that both my paper edition and Acc's edition are from 1991.

Thank you Helen. I will try these as part of my learning how to use Accordance. But there is so much, it might take me a while.

If only Tim could fit this into one of his BW podasts . . .

You may have already seen this but just is case - podcast #89 covers the infer command - it is on a previous version of accordance but the command is the same.
