Allow Opening Of Combined Resources In Own Tab

I am requesting that combined resources be allowed to be opened in its own tab, independent of a parallel pane.

I have seen others make this request in the forums.

According to support, there is a way to do this by opening a combined resource in a parallel pane and then deleting the text pane.  Then you can move that combined resource tab wherever you want and also tie it to another tab in another zone.  However, there are limitations to this.  You can only search verses and not words and if you scroll within that combined resource tab, it will only scroll to the end of that particular resource (e.g. NIVAC-OT/NIVAC-NT and you search for matthew 1, then you can only scroll within NIVAC Matthew).  And there is no table of contents (one of the reasons I want it not in a parallel pane).

I was encouraged by support to make the request here and so here it is.

I think especially with commentary sets being broken up in various modules (which is understandable due to various circumstances), this is needed feature.

tbh, I was surprised that I couldn't open up a combined resource on its own.  I'm wondering if there is a reason this option was never available.

Anyways, if this is something you guys want, please make your voice heard.  Thanks!

The Combined Resources was originally a Combined texts feature, and it still allows you to combine any texts that supply the missing verses for your main Search text (or Text Order text in a Text (Context) tab). So you can combine Greek and Hebrew, tagged and untagged texts. Even tagged texts of the same language may use different tagging schemes. All of this makes allowing for searching, analysis, etc. extremely complicated, and is why currently we only allow you to display the text.

I agree that for reference tools where we limit your choice of additional tools to those of the same series, this is a reasonable request.

This has come up in various queries and requests in the past :

Personally while I see the use of it for commentaries and I accept it is easier to implement there, having it for combined texts would be really nice, at least for ones using the same language, multiple languages having of course other implications.

Thx
