Hi ya,

Does anyone know if there is any significance attached to the parenthesis about the F and E elements in the syntax chart ? In this I am looking at Greek. but it's true of the Hebrew charts also.

I could not see anything in the recent material published on the syntax updates but no doubt could have missed it. I have a vague recollection of something about parens but perhaps that was about the new way to show speech nesting.

thx

Daniel, check out http://www.accordancebible.com/Quick-Guide-To-Latest-Syntax-Updates/.

"Specifier and Exclamation items no longer contribute to depth in searches, and are thus drawn with parentheses."

This was done for a more logical use of depth.  Specifiers and Exclamations aren't really adding any syntactical hierarchy or complexity, but are more of a description of a word.  So, we removed them from depth calculations, so a specifier can be found at depth of zero within a phrase or a clause.  The parentheses help the user remember that they don't add depth.
