dlrude
Hello, I have trouble with this and I admit that it is probably something that I am doing but I just can't figure it out. Let me give the back ground. I like to start Accordance and have it open the generic workspace called "Workspace". Within "Workspace" I keep a few open books that I always use as my start point for any study or reading. On occasion I do some study that results in other books being opened to specific locations and I want to save that workspace as "Study #1". I have been able to save a workspace as "Study #1" that is not my deficiency. I want to in a sense archive "Study #1" for later use at my leisure. However my problem is that after I save such a workspace then when I start Accordance it no longer opens the generic workspace called "Workspace" but rather the one called "Study #1" that I want to just keep archived for later use. What is the proper way to do this? Thanks, Dave.
Bret Hicks
Dave, What you need to do is set your default startup workspace in preferences. If you go to the preferences dialog in Accordance, select general settings, then choose your startup workspace. Just name the basic workspace (possibly to Dave's default workspace) and then choose that as your startup. That should have it open the way you want. dlrude
Thanks Bret, I pasted the window that I think you were referring to but I don't see any such option. What did I miss? Dave
Joel Brown
Dave, you are looking under the 'Workspaces' section. Try under 'General'.
dlrude
Thanks Joel and Bret for the help. Joel I went to "general" and noticed what to do. It seems to work as desired now. Thanks! Dave
dlrude
hmm... well it almost does what I wanted. It does stay with the workspace called "Workspace" that has all the books open that I want but they never move ahead as I read. It always opens at the same chapter and verse. I suspect now that it just doesn't do what I want to do to. I want "Workspace" to open to the last place I closed it at and "Workspace1" , "Workspace2" and so on to be saved away for later when I want to open them but only opened when I specifically open them up. I can live with the way it seems to be just takes two or three steps. Dave
Steve King
What you could do is go back to your original settings. However before you save your 'Workspace' as 'Study #1' you could do the following: 1. Duplicate your 'Workspace' (available under the 'File' menu) File -> Duplicate 2. Then save that as 'Study #1' 3. Then close 'Study #1'. That will leave you with 'Workspace'. If you have the settings as 'Last Session' as you originally had then it will reopen with 'Workspace' with its last reading position. Not sure if this is any easier than the other workaround you might have but it may be an alternative to consider.
