Steps to create a Greek lexicon by importing plain text file in Accordance 14

I really like the enhanced User Tool feature in Accordance 14. To create a Greek lexicon is easy and convenient.

My planning is to create a NT Greek-Chinese glossy lexicon, and would like to share the how-to.

To illustrate how easy it is (within a few minutes), I attach an UTF-8 format file with a few Greek entries. The content is a simple mixture of Chinese, English, Greek and Scripture references. Feel free to download it and follow the steps as a quick started.

Step 1:

  • select Import in User Tool
  • choose Greek Lexicon,
  • click OK
  • select the download file.

Step 2: After the file is imported and you are in the User Tool tabs

  • launch "Edit User Tool" window
  • add the headers
  • decorate the text
  • save it

Now you are done, you can have varies search fields to suite your needs.

I still miss those search fields (Definition, Transliteration, G/K Number, Strong's Number and Frequency) in my example and is waiting for Accordance to shield more light on their details.

Thanks, @simonau

One thing to note, at least for Windows MS Word users. In order to get the TXT file to import properly...

If you are starting with a Word document, use

  • Save a copy
  • Choose Plain Text (*.txt)
  • Choose Other encoding
  • Choose Unicode (UTF-8)

@mgvhWord's is not an appropriate text editor.

There are lot of choices which most of them are free, open-source, out-of-the-box Unicode support and cross-platform; named a few such as Visual Studio Code, Sublime Text etc.

Here is a link of Best Text Editor Softwarehttps://www.g2.com/categories/text-editor for us to pick. 🙂
