Gary Pauley
Does anyone know what the difference is in a commentary, lexicon, or dictionary User Tool? I have not really been able to see the difference from one to the other.
KevinPurcell
I'm sorry but are you asking what the difference is between those 3 categories of tools philosophically? Or do you mean how they function in Accordance?
Gary Pauley
Haha ya I just wonder how a dictionary user tool is different than a lexicon, etc. Do they have different functions? They look like the same thing but with different names…I was wondering if I was missing something Edited December 8, 2022 by Gary Pauley
Lorinda H. M. Hoover
Dictionaries are keyed to English (and perhaps other "modern" languages) Lexicons are keyed to the relevant Biblical Language (Greek or Hebrew) Commentaries to Scripture references So, for example, I have a User Tool created in 14 as a Hebrew Lexicon. I can use Hebrew words in the heading rows, and Accordance will recognize them as a "Hebrew entry" and I can set the search field for that tool as "Hebrew entry" and enter a Hebrew word to search for.
