Accordance for iPhone 4 vs. iPhone 5--huge difference?

I noticed on my wife's iPhone in the app store that Accordance is "optimized for iPhone 5."

I've never owned an iPhone but am considering one. Through my phone company I can get a free iPhone 4 with contract, whereas iPhone 5 costs a decent sum.

Are there significant differences in how Accordance handles on iPhone 5 vs. 4? I understand (I think) that the iPhone 5 screen is a bit bigger, so there's that, but curious about major differences, if any?

I searched the forums on this and couldn't find anything, though if it's already been discussed here, perhaps someone can post a link to that thread.

The 5 has the larger screen and faster processor. Both would be somewhat helpful for our app, but the 4 will work fine. I like the extra reading real estate in landscape on the 5 personally.

In addition the 5 has a much nicer camera, which I use a lot for family stuff. The 4S has the same camera specs I believe as the 5. You could also wait to see if a rumored 5S comes out and the others drop in price.

There are all kinds of rumors flying about the iPhone 5S. One is wireless charging, and here are some more. If you check the Buyer's Guide Tab under iPhone, it will link you to some of the other rumors.

Nice! Thanks, Julie--the iPhone 5 is $200 under contract now, but if that graphic in the link you sent is correct, it would be $0 when the 5S comes out. Perhaps worth the wait.

Perhaps in a couple years I'll be revisiting this thread to ask about the difference of Accordance on iWatch 1 vs. iWatch 2! (Can you imagine?)

Depends how much you use a mobile phone but I got a 2 month old 4s on eBay when the 5 came out and have a cheap sim only contract which is a better fit for my use. Still got 10 months warranty and the cost of a 64gig phone a lot cheaper than a new 16 gig one. Over the life of a 2 year contract this makes a big saving. ;o) accordance is great on the screen and I have a smaller phone! Speed is relative, it's a lot faster than my previous android and its fast enough for what I want, I can still find a verse quickly enough to keep up with the sermon. ;o)

I upgraded from a 3GS to a 5, and what I would add to this debate is - don't underestimate the advantage of the bigger screen. I generally work in Hebrew, and with older eyes I need a reasonably sized font to make out the vowel points. The iPhone 5 can get a decent amount of text on the screen, the smaller size really was a struggle; I had to scroll continually, sometimes just to see the whole verse.

To be honest, I would have preferred it had the screen been even bigger, something like the new Samsungs. Perhaps I'll get an iPad mini when they have retina displays.

Good points (no pun intended), Nick.

I would also totally agree with Nick about the bigger screen being better! That is why 95% of the time I have my iPad with me. The iPhone is for emergency as that is always with me and I tend to be a bit more selective on where I take the iPad. ;o) But the iPad has become my tool of preference!

I had an iPhone 3GS before my iPhone 5, for general reading I find either were very nice.. With the split screen on the smaller screen i always felt it was not comfortable leaving it open, but on the iPhone 5 it seems comfortable leaving it open. The 3GS has the same size screen as the 4/4S just not the nice resolution of them, I too usually use my iPad for reading but I would feel that a 4/4S would be quite suitable unless I was wanting to keep a second window open.

Thanks for the thoughts, ukfraser and Dan. I take it Siri does not integrate with Accordance? "Siri, how many aorist active verbs are there in the Gospel of Mark?" :) Maybe down the road...

Oh, yeah, that would be really cool!
