Funzero Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Is there a way to change the default iOS text?
Sean R. Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Yes. Move the text you wish as default to the top of the list in the Library view. To do so, tap the Edit button in the top right of the screen in the Library view. On the far right of the screen, touch and drag the three shaded lines for the text you wish to move. Simply drag it to the top of the list and then tap Done. The moved text will now be your default.
Scott Knapp Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 The default text module used throughout the app is set by which one is listed first in the Texts section of the Library view. So to change the default text is simply a matter of editing the order of the texts in that section.
Brent Lawrence Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 The default text module used throughout the app is set by which one is listed first in the Texts section of the Library view. So to change the default text is simply a matter of editing the order of the texts in that section. Oddly, I have rearranged the order, and the default text is still the 2nd text listed under texts in my library. No matter what I try, I cannot get it to change.
Solly Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 (edited) Have you checked the text set in the preferences? Tool Display— Text and Alternative Text Compare Text— Keyed Text Search Tabs—Text Parallel Tabs— Text and NT Text These are the places I know that allow one to define the text to be used in functions controlled by these operations. There may be more that I have missed. Oh my, I see that you were asking about iOS. Sorry! I haven't had much coffee this morning thus far. Now as to my iOS device I find mine is working as advertised in that a verse ref in any tool will be displayed in the topmost text of the library. I have always chosen a specific text from the library when opening another text , so I have never thought of a default text for this. The text version remains as the most recently used until I choose another text from the recently used list or the library text list. I am under the impression that the top text controls the text to be used in amplify only. The search tool of a text window uses the current text displayed, though one may search with a different text by touching the text ID in the search tool, much as one changes the text displayed in the current text window by touching the text name at the top. Actually, I find this behavior pretty satisfying, for I am always changing my mind on what I want as a preferred text. Of course, my understanding of the iOS may be lacking and I may be missing the point of the question you are asking. I look forward to learning more. Shalom, Joseph Edited July 9, 2017 by Solly
Scott Knapp Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Oddly, I have rearranged the order, and the default text is still the 2nd text listed under texts in my library. No matter what I try, I cannot get it to change. So I think in v2.4 or v2.5 of the iOS app there was a Hyperlink preference added under the Tool Display settings to set a first and second choice text for resolving scripture links. I would have to look more closely at the code to see when these are used but my guess is that, at least for tools, the prior information about the iOS app always using the first two texts in the Library view may no longer be correct. Scott. Simulator Screen Shot Jul 9, 2017, 2.12.00 PM.png That's where it is. I was searching under Text Display for a place to change it. It seems the old convention of rearranging the desired text to first position is gone in favor of this. I'm not sure it's obvious, but as long as it works...

I had not scrolled down far enough to see this and my Text and Alt Text were set to the number 1 and number 2 text in my library stack. Always learning/relearning something every day. Brent, you may ignore my previous comments. Shalom, Joseph
csonni Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I’ve just downloaded Reader Plan app (for yearly reading plans) and set Accordance to the default app from which to read. For some reason, I can only get the ESVi text as my default, even after moving it farther down in the settings. Maybe Reader Plan is not allowing me to change it? Is anyone else using Reader Plan app as their go to plan for the year?

csonni Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Sorry, I got the title a bit off. It’s ReadingPlan which you’ll find in the App Store. It’s free and you can download a large number of plans as well. Great app.
Fabian Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Thanks, I've searched the App Store but was not sure which one you mentioned. Greetings Fabian
ukfraser Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 (edited) I’m guessing this oneFabian One of the reviews mentions linking to Accordance and L... ReadingPlan by James H. Price https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/readingplan/id336984707?mt=8 Edited January 1, 2018 by ukfraser 1
csonni Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 That’s the only one at hat shows up in he App Store. Maybe you spaced the two apart...Reading...Plan. I’m guessing this oneFabian One of the reviews mentions linking to Accordance and L... ReadingPlan by James H. Pricehttps://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/readingplan/id336984707?mt=8 Yes, that’s the one. 1
Fabian Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Thanks I've found it. As I saw the description approximately: You can use it with you preferred Bible App. Greetings Fabian
csonni Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 The developer got back to me. The setting has to be edited manually to open a certain text in Accordance.
