More Old Testament Pseudepigrapha Project

I and others have recommended in the past having the Charlesworth (1983 & 1987) and H. F. C. Sparks (1984) sets of the so-called Old Testament Pseudepigrapha in Accordance.

It would also be nice to have works from the on-going More Old Testament Pseudepigrapha Project (the University of St. Andrews) in Accordance. Jim Davila and others have offered material not easily available to nonspecialists.

Has there been any discussion on developing the two-volume Old Testament Pseudepigrapha, edited by James Charlesworth (1983 & 1985)?

We have tried for years to get it, and are trying again now.

I'd like to add my personal support for this module. Charlesworth is now the scholarly standard for intertestamental work. I imagine it would be a mammoth project to code properly; its notes are extensive and multi-lingual. However, it is invaluable to those of us who work with extra-biblical texts, especially those in the second temple period.

Please?

Has there been any update on this? I just received an email that from Logos that Charlesworth's Pseudepigrapha is available and on sale, and while I'd much rather have this module in Accordance, and searchable, digital copy would be invaluable.

We are pursuing it, but these negotiations take time.

It's great to be able to get a response from the developers of software that one uses frequently. Accordance is good enough that I would rather wait to purchase this module from you than purchase it now from one of your competitors.

Thanks.

Is there any progress with the negotiations on Charlesworth?

For what it's worth, additional pseudepigrapha will be published by Eerdmans in September.

It would be nice to have this eventually in Accordance as well.

I notice that a competitor will be releasing Old Testamant Pseudepigrapha: More Noncanonical Scriptures, ed. Richard Bauckham, James Davila, & Alex Panayotov, in digital format.

Is there any chance Oaktree Software could develop this for Accordance? It would be a good addition to Charlesworth.

It's certainly possible, but not sure when. Only the first volume has been published and it may be several years before the second is finished (see one of the editors' comments here). We would likely wait until it's complete. In addition, developing resources like this is very challenging because the corpus itself is complex. We don't want it simply to be a book, but a searchable text that can be displayed in parallel with other versions we offer; this often requires a lot of work to align them, which we would like to do at one time, not updating it with new editions, volumes, etc.

Thanks for the feedback.
