Startup problem: "Error processing online information. There may be a problem with the servers. Please try again later."

Hello,

I am still running v 13.4.2 until I can afford to upgrade to v 14. I just got a new PC which is running Windows 11. Accordance installed fine and even downloaded my existing library with no issues - yay! But after just about a week of use it started having errors on startup. Sometimes it goes into an endless loop of "checking for updates" and sometimes it just says "Error processing online information. There may be a problem with the servers. Please try again later." and I am able to close the update window without killing the entire Accordance process with task manager.

I worked around this issue, by turning off auto-update checks. Now I can load and use my existing Accordance library. But I can easily reproduce this issue by choosing Utilities | Check for Content Updates from the menu.  Also, I see several people with the same issue in this forum. However I don't see any solution yet. Did I miss something? Is it a permissions thing? Must run as admin once? Must change .ini or registry? I am comfortable working with software could someone post the solution to this bug?

Or do I just need to stop checking for content updates in my v 13?

Thanks for your advice on this!

Blessings,

Ray

Hi @Ray Mercer. I believe this is still a known issue in v13. After disabling Preferences > Updates > Automatically check for module updates (as you've already done), the workaround for doing a manual content update is to 1) run Easy Install (Utilities > Easy Install...), and 2) click the Updates button at the top of the Easy Install dialog. From there, you should be able to download any available (free) module updates.

Awesome. Thank you @Steven S!
I just did that and there happened to be an update for Mounce (4.4 ->4.5). I downloaded it and installed it with no issues.
This will do until I can update. Much appreciated!
