Instant details: is a view other than "column view" possible?

I currently have the ID pane set to run along the bottom of my workspace, and I'm finding the fact that it uses columns to display text very distracting and annoying, especially when the entry is so short it only appears in the first column, like this:

 

 

 

 

And when there is just a partial line of text in the second column, like this:

 

Is there any way to change the display so it displays text in one "column" that runs across the entire length of the ID pane?

 

I checked the settings options and the help file and didn't find anything.

Although not quite what you're after, if you don't mind a vertical Instant Details pane, you can toggle the format (second button in the ID controls) to get a tall, narrow pane that displays in one column.

I haven't found any options to allow a single column in a wide pane.

There is a way to display Instant Details as a popover as well by pressing and holding on a word. Probably not still what you need, but fun to try.

Thanks for the suggestions, even though neither are ideal for me.  I work on a 13” MacBook, usually with two zones, so I’m not a fan of instant details along the side; I much prefer it on the bottom.  I used to do the floating window Instant details thing, but found that it was inevitably covering up something I needed to see while I was accessing the ID.

 

On the other hand, I’ve never tried pressing and holding for ID. I’m away from my computer for a few days, but when I am reunited with my Macbook I”ll give that a try and see how that works.

 

All that said, maybe this should be a feature request.  @Dr. Nathan Parker Do you want to move this thread or should I create a new one in Feature reqauests.
