What happened to the Accordance tutorials?

I frequently use Accordance on my iPad just for reading. But, for me, actual Bible study tends to come and go. Therefore, I will dive deeper into Accordance infrequently, usually on my laptop. I remember that, at one time, I was using an excellent tutorial on inductive Bible study on the Accordance website. There were videos (mostly by Dr. J) embedded in each lesson and examples of how to use Accordance for inductive Bible study.

Well, I was hoping to get back to that study from so long ago but they seem to have disappeared. Have they been moved or, perhaps, archived somewhere?

The "Lighting the Lamp" series may have moved. We can get to the first of the series, but the link to the repository seems to be broken.

https://www.accordancebible.com/lighting-the-lamp-accordance-podcast/

These still work, but you may have to do some digging to find what you're looking for:

- Inductive Bible Study 5-part series on finding repeated words: https://www.accordancebible.com/tag/inductive-bible-study/

- Accordance website -> Support -> Videos: https://www.accordancebible.com/videos/

- Accordance website -> Support -> Webinars: https://www.accordancebible.com/webinars/

Hi @SabreFlyr and @Lawrence,

In case it is helpful, here is the Lighting the Lamp playlist on YouTube. I really miss Dr. J's videos. :(

I'm also trying to do some weekly videos called "QuickTips" that go out in our emails. They're not quite what Dr. J did (I don't think I could fill his shoes!), but I still try to provide some extra training.

I appreciate all of your input. However, I'm familiar with the Lighting the Lamp podcasts (and enjoy them). And, it wasn't just a series on a specific task (e.g., finding a series of repeated words). This was a full series of lessons on inductive Bible study and was just one in a series of many tutorial topics. Each lesson had a video (by Dr. J in this case, at least) as well as a text lesson. I wish that I had been diligent to complete the study at that time. Apparently, those tutorials are lost forever.

Many of Lighting the Lamp videos may be found on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLthdidJ4Qs5KAYVc1Kz29tNTgF_leEuZw

This is a playlist under the Accordance Bible channel of YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@accordance/featured

Happy viewing,

I watched the majority of these several times before purchasing accordance so that i was up and running on day one and was sure that accordance was the right software for me. (Mind you there were only about 50 episodes in those days!). But they were also a great insight into which modules i would benefit from.

dr j  was a great asset and is greatly missed.

@Sean Nelson Do we still have this anywhere?

If the lessons are not the ones on our YouTube channel, then the other place I would look would be our webinar archives linked above. I checked our "videos" page and didn't see anything that looked like what was described.

Was this the "course" that Accordance offered at one time where you got some free Accordance credit if you took the course?

I took it years ago. I can't find any notes on my machine. Maybe I didn't download them. I did enjoy the Accordance credit. :-)

There is a module called "Dr. J's Bible Study Methods" There are lots of links in it to related podcasts.  Any chance that's what you are looking for???

It wasn't anything that's now on the YouTube channel or in the webinar archives. These were HTML (I think) text lessons with embedded videos (as best I recall).

If its not already installed, check your easy install. It is part of the standard install for all collections from basic upwards.

When I saw your post, I initially thought that BiblicalTraining.org might have been what I was looking for. However, after a brief look, I remember that website and I HAVE used it previously but it's not the training that I was remembering (which was Accordance-specific). Looks a bit more polished than I remember.

Now, Dr. J's Bible Study Methods MIGHT be it. I'm going to have to dig into it but, even if it's not what I was remembering, it certainly looks like it will serve my purposes. THANKS!

I think this what is being referred to: If you open Dr. J's Bible Study Methods and scroll down to Additional Resources it lists Podcasts: #70) How To Choose a Translation. If you click that link you get a dead link. The link points to: https://www.accordancefiles2.com/podcasts/p70_howtochooseatranslation.mp4

Since this is an "in house" Accordance Module if the location of those links are moved the module should be updated to provide a working link. It is inconceivable that Accordance no longer has those files available. At the very least the module should be updated with links to the podcasts at YouTube (even though that is not the best option).

Do a report corrections on that module, and we can get those broken links fixed.

I could do that but ALL the podcast links are broken. This would result in a large number of correction reports. It would seem more reasonable since all the links are broken to make note of it here.

I would report the first one that is broken, then link to this thread. Also make a note that they're all broken in the email. That'll give the module developers enough info to resolve all of them in one report.

I BELIEVE ALL OF THE TRAINING VIDEOS HAVE BEEN CATALOGED AND LINKED TO THIS PAGE

     https://www.accordancebible.com/videos/

There are also hundreds of training videos stored in the following locations:

What I had been using previously was not a podcast.

What I was trying to find was not a video (which all of the above are). I think that it may have had embedded or linked videos. However, I'm currently determining whether Dr. J's Bible Study Methods is what I had been using. If not, it will likely serve my purposes.
