Importing question...

I have the Catholic Encyclopedia (in HTML) on a disc and I want to import it into Accordance as a user tool. The encyclopedia is broken up into many files with links to access them. Is it possible to import the encyclopedia as it is, or would it need to be a single HTML file? If it needs to be a single file, how can I merge all the HTML files into 1 file? Thanx for the help.

This is exactly what we did not intend users to attempt. If it's worthwhile material and public domain or we can get a license, we would be happy to make a tool for it. User tools are intended for single papers, sermons, notes etc., and not for major series like this.

Thanx Helen. I'll make the request for a new module of the Catholic Encyclopedia.

If it is a big document, then the resulting User Tool will certainly be too unwieldy.

But, as for the core of your question, if you have a "document" broken into several html files, you do NOT have to combine them first into one file, though that MAY be the smartest way to do it.

When you import an html file, you can choose to add it to the end of an existing User Tool. Give it a try with 5 or so of the html files, in order and have a look at your results.

AND

You can also use any WYSIWYG editor (even Word), and combine the document first and save as one html file and try importing that.

That is a great idea, I will keep that in mind for some of the smaller docs I have that could be combined like that. Thanx.
