Steven S Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 I recently attempted to look up the Chalcedonian Definition in the Accordance Schaff NPNF2 module (CF-NPN2, version 3.3). At first, I thought I was going crazy because I was unable to find the complete definition as one contiguous piece of text. After further investigation, it appears the section containing the Chalcedonian Definition (i.e., Volume XIV The Seven Ecumenical Councils > THE FOURTH ECUMENICAL COUNCIL; THE COUNCIL OF CHALCEDON > The Definition of Faith of the Council of Chalcedon) has been erroneously structured, such that the two independent columns of text that originally appeared in Schaff's printed version have been interlaced. That is, the text in the first column on the first page is followed by the text of the second column on the first page, rather than the text in the first column on the second page, etc. The correctly structured (noninterlaced) text from this section is available on CCEL and Wikisource. If you look at the corresponding image of the printed text (beginning here), you can see how the first and second columns are independent of each other from page 262 through page 264. On the top half of page 265, the second column goes back to being simply a continuation of the first on the same page, rather than a continuation of the second from the previous page. In summary, this section of the Accordance module is structured in this way: p. 262, col. 1 p. 262, col. 2 p. 263, col. 1 p. 263, col. 2 p. 264, col. 1 p. 264, col. 2 p. 265, col. 1 p. 265, col. 2 when, I believe, it should be structured in this way: p. 262, col. 1 p. 263, col. 1 p. 264, col. 1 p. 265, col. 1 p. 265, col. 2 p. 262, col. 2 p. 263, col. 2 p. 264, col. 2 (I will report this as a correction, but I figured it's significant enough to document on the forum so that it's searchable for anyone who may come across it in the future before the module is updated.)
Dr. Nathan Parker Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 Thanks! Definitely report it as a Correction. I'll also grab it and show it to our team. 1
jlm Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 The following proposal has been a hard sell, but I’d just like to point out again that if you rebuild the module from the latest CCEL ThML, you’ll pick up a lot of corrections. 1
