Win 11, Acc 14.0.5

When I use the Search feature in Preferences, I can type in a word in order to look for the setting, but as soon as I hit Enter, the search does not run and the window closes.

(As I learned, this can be painful if I am on the Text Display parameters, and quickly hit Enter twice without paying close attention, and it overwrites all the Text Display customizations I had made. grrr.....)

Confirmed. I’ll report this one.

I don't think this is a bug.

The preferences search displays matches (hits) as you type.

If there are no hits from a preferences search then the results view is not shown --> hitting return will save the settings and close the pref dialog. (e.g. search for "Nathan" and hit return)

Hmm... That's not the way it works for me. E.g., if I'm looking for keyboard shortcut for MERGE, I type "merge" in search box. Nothing happens as I type. If I hit ENTER, the whole preference window just disappears.

I have Accordance 14.0.5 on Mac OS13.3.1 (a)

When I type "merge"  this is what I get:

Typing merge into Preferences on Accordance 14.0.5 on Windows 11 does not produce the drop down menu for me. Hitting enter causes the box to close.

This looks like a bug to me.

I can't reproduce this on Windows 10.  I may need help.  Is anyone on Win 11 able to check if it was working in 14.0.4?  You can get the 14.0.4 installer here.

I can confirm this happens to me as well.  When I hit the enter button the dialog box closes.

Win11

I just tried 14.0.5b4 and it was not working there.

@Silas Marrs Am I able to temporarily rollback my 14.0.5 public build to 14.0.4 on my Windows 11 machine, or would that break anything? I may try it this weekend.

@Nathan Parker That won't break anything.

You could also just install both at once by renaming the existing C:\Program Files (x86)\OakTree\Accordance folder to something like C:\Program Files (x86)\OakTree\Accordance 14.0.5 then install 14.0.4 to C:\Program Files (x86)\OakTree\Accordance 14.0.4

You would have to redirect any desktop or start menu shortcuts to the renamed directory, but Accordance itself is pretty well adapted to working out of any folder.

OK, I’ll install 14.0.4 on my Windows PC this week and give this a test.

Got it downloaded on my Windows PC, but I have a new firewall in place that’s blocking it. I have a ticket into my firewall MSP to get it whitelisted so I can test it. Once that’s done, will test and report back.

My firewall was still blocking 14.0.4 last time I tried it. I’ll try again today and see how it goes.

I can access it now. @Silas Marrs, I can confirm this functionality worked in 14.0.4. Going to update to 14.0.5 and see what happens.

Strange, when I downgraded to 14.0.4, then upgraded to 14.0.5 using the installer from the Accordance website (not the in-app update), the issue resolved for me.

@Nathan Parker @Silas Marrs

I'm running Accordance 14.0.5, which was installed using the in-app upgrade from 14.0.4, Windows 11. There's a bug in my install.

1. New Workspace, then Edit -> Preferences. Typing "merge" into the search box gets something like the dropdown Steve posted above. This is the expected behavior.

2. Closed the new workspace. In the main workspace, do Edit -> Preferences. Typing "merge" brings up a dropdown that keeps changing. After cancelling and repeating, Merge no longer produces any dropdown at all.

3. New Workspace, then Edit -> Preferences again. Same behaviour as #2.

4. Close and reopen Accordance 14.0.5 - Merge works properly (same behavior as #1 above, consistently) when repeating the tests in #1 and #2.

In #3, typing "merge" (no dropdown appears) then the Enter key closes the preferences window.

Also, in every case, it takes about 4 seconds between selecting Edit -> Preferences and having the Preferences window show up.

Snapshot of the dropdown that keeps changing:

Snapshot of no-dropdown after typing "merge" into the search box:

A possible workaround I stumbled across is to close and reopen Accordance (just the program; no need to reboot the PC).

Tried... didn't work for me. Thanks, though!

Strange process, but what happens if you downgrade to 14.0.4 then reinstall 14.0.5 directly from the website? That resolved mine.

No longer had access to 14.0.4. Did have 14.0.1 which I installed. (Preference search worked)

Updated to 14.0.5 and preference search now does work.

Odd indeed!

Strange for sure, but it worked for me too!

Using 14.0.8b2 on Win 11.

The problem has reemerged. I.e., typing in anything in the Preferences Search box does nothing.

(I was looking for font settings to fix the problem I note in this thread:

I have not bothered to try to do the downgrade to an earlier version, but I did just check my 14.0.7 installation and the search function was not working there.

Thanks for the update! Also post this in the beta forums.
