In this video Dr. Bill Mounce (using Accordance Bible Software) examines the text of 1 John 1:3 to help explain and illustrate what an apposition is. For the curious yes this is the same Bill Mounce (William D. Mounce) who wrote The Basics of Biblical Greek Grammar, amongst other works.

When the Mounce/Wallace framework start talking about the semantics of the Genitive I tune out and drop out.

 

This was discussed extensively decades ago on b-greek.
