Shortcuts for bold and italic

Since the recent update, I can't hit "command - b" to get the text to give bold weight in my user notes. I looked in the preferences for any keyboard shortcuts for text options, but couldn't find any.  Where are the keyboard shortcuts for text (bold, italic, small caps, underline, superscript, subscript) located?
