jlm Posted August 14, 2021 Share Posted August 14, 2021 (edited) The latter has sigla that work like footnotes for quick access to the critical apparatus. Also, since they’re sigla rather than footnote numbers, they give you some idea of the variant even before you look at the apparatus.
