Analysis question

Kristin

Recommended Posts

I am having an issue with the Analysis. When a key is translated multiple ways, I check to see the various ways it was translated as such and where it was. However, once I click on one of the options and view the verses, the whole list disappears and I need to restart the search over and go through the process for every single translation. Is it possible to keep the list there so I can just go through them one at a time without doing the search again?

Thank you for any help anyone is able to provide.

Kristin

Hello Kristin

I have no clue what you are doing, but it seems to be wrong. Scherz.

Try the following:

Search for [Key 5043] in the ESV.

Open Analysis

Triple-click on 2037775051_Bildschirmfoto2021-07-04um09_25_56.png.5e0d1b1dd0f97fee322f3312b3d295d8.png "Child" if you want to see all occurrences of "Child" in the ESV.

A new ESV will open and it displays all "Child".

Triple-click on 35125658_Bildschirmfoto2021-07-04um09_26_02.png.40272cd582fd65b9e742e3adde5eda2a.png "G5043" to see all occurrences of "=Child"@[KEY G5043] . That means where Key G5043 is translated as "Child".

As long as the 404185954_Bildschirmfoto2021-07-04um09_29_48.png.639c27025977a857ab9ec7ae90c1f662.png Recycle button is active, the new opened Bible will be updated if you Triple-click through the list. If you want to hold one, just make the recycle button inactive and a new Bible is opened on the next one.

Just use the oldest shortcut-key in Accordance. "Triple-Click". Triple-Click in Analysis came around Accordance 11 or 12. I can't remember exactly. The release notes knows it.

Hi Fabian,

Thank you for your response. I went through the steps and it worked fine, and so I messed with it to try to figure out what was going on and it seems to be doing multiple searches in a row.

Here are the exact steps I did which caused the issue:

1. Search for KEY G5043

2. Open Analysis, go through results, works fine.

3. Click on “children” as a random example.

4. Mt 2:18 is the first result. Right click on “weeping” and do a key search on the word..

5. There are 40 hits. Click on Analysis and open the first translational result “mourn”

6. The rest of the list will disappear.

The only way to check the rest of the list is to re-do the search of KEY G2799.

Is this happening to you too, or am I doing something wrong?

This is how it looks by me. Steps 1-5.

or this.

Yes they disappear. (But you can now Triple-Click again on "mourn" and the list of "mourn" come back.)

There is no swipe right to go back / Command-Z. Feature request.

And there is no feature after Command-T to show all verse refs, where you can click on it. Feature request 2.

Hi Fabian,

Thank you again, but I am afraid I am still having issues. If you triple click on "mourn" you do technically get a list, but it is not the list of KEY G2799, but rather a list of "mourn" and shows results in the OT. Is there a way to get back to the main list of translations for KEY G2799?

Hi Kristin

It seems NO. Thats why I have wrote "Feature Request".  Only do a new Analyse, as the search for G2799 is still there.

Hi Fabian,

Ok, thank you for confirming this, and hopefully the back button will be added in an update, as it is sort of tedious doing the search over and over.

Kristin, I think you just need to be turning off Recycle a bit more.  Every time your amplify something, whether a right-click on the text, or a triple click on a word in the Analysis tab, Accordance attempts to open a new tab with your search.  But, to reduce clutter, perhaps you don't want to end up with 20 tabs.  The concept of Recycle tells Accordance that this tab should be reused, so the old results can be discarded.  Similarly, any Analysis tabs coming from that recycled search tab will also be reused.

So, when you get a search tab (and its corresponding Analysis) that you *do not* want Recycled, simply turn off the Recycle icon (Cmd-K/Ctrl+K) and it won't go away, and similarly, its Analysis tab won't change.  In your case, I believe this tab would be the one generated in your Step 4 "Right click on “weeping".

Hi Joel,

Thank you for your help, and I think that was the issue. I re-did the search making sure recycle was off, and that appears to have resolved it, and now the list does not disappear. I tried it with a few words and it seems to be working fine now.

Thank you for your help. :)
