JonathanHuber
While reading in Jeremiah 7, I came across "den of robbers" (σπήλαιον λῃστῶν) and wanted to see 1) if it was used elsewhere in the LXX and 2) if it was the same wording as in NT, so I copied the phrase directly from the LXX and plugged it into Research. Surprisingly, the only hits returned were from the GNT-TRS, not any of the morphologically tagged Greek texts including the LXX from which it was copied. If I amplify to Research - Texts instead of copy/paste, then it finds everything appropriately. Why doesn't copy/paste work? Λύχνις Δαν
Hi Jonathan For morph tagged texts you need to specify lexical terms or quote it. Thx D
JonathanHuber
It should be smart enough to recognize that the character sequence matches.
Λύχνις Δαν
Many would agree with you. As far as I can tell Research is just a loop of searches over the texts in the group. And the way the text is entered is used in the way it would be in a module search. Thus unquoted against tagged texts will be treated as lexical. I don't know this is actually so but it's what I infer from the behaviour. And it's tried against various fields, but apparently not inflected and uninflected. Would be a nice enhancement though. Joel Brown
Jonathan, its just as simple as surrounding your paste with double-quotes. I don't think it's a good idea to have Accordance start guessing every module between lexical and inflected searches, as that just doubles (or more) all search times.
JonathanHuber
I don't think it's a good idea to have Accordance start guessing every module between lexical and inflected searches, as that just doubles (or more) all search times. I freely admit that I'm not a programmer and could easily be wrong here, but I just don't understand how that's a big deal. I ran the search with various combinations of σπήλαιον λῃστής <OR> "σπήλαιον λῃστῶν" and the searches were all really fast when restricting the search to texts. A Research search for an English word searches titles, content, bibliography, transliteration, captions, etc simultaneously. Yes, you'd think I'd automatically know to put the inflected forms in quotes after all this time, but I naively treated Research as able to search across all the fields.
