eric in redding Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I created a custom map layer on my desktop for my Genesis class that I am teaching. It has all the locations that the various groups settled (70 of them from chapter 10). I wanted to transfer them to my laptop to take to class but can't see how what file to grab. Is there a way to export the layers for use on other computers? Thanks
Helen Brown Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 The custom layers are stored in user/Library/Preferences/Accordance Preferences/User Layers. If you transfer that file you will have the same user layers on the other computer.
DanG Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 sounds like a great idea for a map layer. how about posting a copy to the Accordance Exchange website?
Helen Brown Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Remember, though, that whereas it is easy to create separate highlight files and share them, there is only one user layer file with all the layers.Therfore, if you replace one such file with another, you lose the layers you have created on that computer.
DanG Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I didn't realize you couldn't share map user layers. This would be a great way to share work with other users. I could see collaborating with others on making certain maps/layers available to others in the Accordance community
Helen Brown Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 You won't lose your work if you save your own copy of User Layers in another place or with another name. In the 10+ years since we released the Atlas there has been little demand for the ability to share layers, but we can revisit the idea if there is sufficient interest.
