Tyndale Commentary Series

I'm curious if anyone knows when the next update for the Tyndale Commentary Series will go into effect for the module?  At least three revision-books have already been released concerning the hard copy: Genesis, Ecclesiastes, and 1/2 Samuel.  And Logos is currently allowing users to pre-order these titles until they are licensed (ex: https://www.logos.com/product/176139/genesis-an-introduction-and-commentary)

 

So my question is when will these updates be available in Accordance?  The reason I am asking is because I am trying to discern if I should purchase the entire commentary series now, or if I should wait for the updated version to come out if it will be soon.

Yes, I have been patiently waiting for an update to the Tyndale series. I would really like to have 1 Corinthians.

With the massive number of new volumes recently released it would seem to be a good time to do an update, one might argue about waiting till all are done but that could lead you with a very long wait. Indeed the forthcoming ezra nehemiah volume doesn't even have a set date for release.

I believe it’s been 10 years since the Tyndale Commentary series last received an update, with on last count 16 new volumes that could be added.

 

I would think that for most who have bought into the commentary sets when/if new titles are released we would upgrade for 1 or 2 new volumes, but for 16 to be added in one go, that’s going to bump up the price quite a bit!

 

Also, it’s quite disappointing that the set hasn’t been updated for so long. Not sure if it’s the publisher delaying things but there are other commentary sets such as the Christ Centred Exposition Commentary Series which hasn’t been updated for 3 years with 6 new volumes that could be added.

 

Hoping that these commentary sets will be updated soon...

It's been over a year since the last update from Accordance on a related thread. There are now 19 new Tyndale Commentary volumes lacking in Accordance, with two other volumes on the way in late 2020 and early 2021. I really hope that Accordance is at work on acquiring these! With over a decade since the last update to this module, these new volumes are desired by many.

It has now been over two years since we have received an update directly from Accordance on a related thread. New and revised volumes in the Tyndale OT and NT Commentary series by IVP have continued to proliferate. As of this posting, there are now 26 new or revised Tyndale Commentary volumes that have been published but are lacking in Accordance. These new volumes cover more than two-thirds of the OT (27 books) and one-third of the NT (9 books)—over half of the biblical canon (perhaps more when the respective size of each biblical book is accounted for). That Accordance has failed to update the offerings for this module in well over a decade is even more astounding when compared to both Logos and Olive Tree: the former offers 9 new volumes (partway through 2017) and the latter offers 15 new volumes (through 2018). I really hope that Accordance is diligently working to acquire these new volumes. As is evident from the several different forum threads on this topic, these new contributions to such an accesible yet reputable series are desired by many.

We are working with the publisher on getting the license for the remaining volumes. I believed the publisher changed a while back. I don’t have an ETA on a release date for the new additions, but we are communicating with the publisher as we speak.
