Enoch
Whenever I use BDAG (donno if this affects other Lexicons so much), I have all these large boxes popping up over & over with Bibliographical information, unwanted, blocking the screen, time-wasting to get it out of there. I realize that the system must be responding to something I am doing & the Accordance helpers may tell me to stop doing something I am doing, but I think Accordance itself should do something to stop these accidental popups. Things that bug the user. Some more deliberative action by the user should be required to activate these popups.
Helen Brown
You may want to check your settings in Preferences: Instant Details: Show popover on click and hold. You can turn off this feature or increased the delay until it no longer annoys you.
Enoch
You may want to check your settings in Preferences: Instant Details: Show popover on click and hold. You can turn off this feature or increased the delay until it no longer annoys you I went to settings & put it on long, which did not help. This problem of having huge squares pop up suddenly & spontaneously seems to have nothing to do with click and hold. These huge squares block the reading of the Lexicon, come up suddenly & linger a long time. It makes reading the lexicon a misery.
Silas Marrs
I want to make sure I'm on the same page as you. Is this the sort of pop-up you are talking about? If so, you can disable it by unchecking this setting: If there is some other pop-up you are talking about, can you send me a screenshot so I'm on the same page?
Enoch
This is a large square of bibliographical information. They can pop up one after another impeding research. And they pop up even when I am not in a Lexicon. This is not a click & hold activity. I took a screen shot with my MacBook which saved as a .png file. But after dragging it here, I got the error message that this system could not receive that sort of file. Perhaps you can tell me how to put a screen shot on this forum. Enoch
I tried changing the file to .jpg Lets see if that works: No, didn't work. Again I got "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." Edited December 29, 2018 by Enoch
Guest
Enoch, click on “More Reply Options” at the bottom right, and you should get an Attach Files dialog at the bottom of the full edit window. Either .png or .jpg should work fine.
Enoch
Here it the screen shot; as I see the box it is in the center of the Workspace. It may move for some reason with the screen shot. Thank to R-Mansfield
Enoch
I should explain that sometimes I get these popup bibliography boxes one after another, like playing Whack-M-Mole or trying to stop the brooms by the Sorcerer's Apprentice. Solly
This happened to me and I discovered that Preferences—> General—> Suppress Opening Text Information had become unchecked. It may be worth checking this setting. —Joseph
Silas Marrs
My apologies, you were having a completely different problem than I thought you were having. Solly's suggestion that you check the "Suppress Opening Text Information" box under General Preferences should solve your problem.
Enoch
It did turn off WhackAMole! Now since that preference unchecked makes the Info Pane torture to use, may I suggest that this feature be changed somehow so that it becomes useful instead of Whack-a-Mole! Otherwise, Accordance could rename this feature WhackAMole Bibliography game & sell special joy sticks for gamers. The cursor will change to a whacking stick. Thanks so much, Solly. Silas Marrs
Ah! Once again I had not understood the nature of your problem. Didn't realize it was related to the info pane. Looks like it's showing "Opening Text Information" whenever it loads a cover for the info pane, even though you do not completely open the text. That's definitely a bug, and I will fix it. Enoch
Thanks much Silas. The undesired Pop-up Mole Bibliography squares seem to me to be ubiquitous in Accordance, not just for the Info Pain. Fabian
Enoch talks abut this . Enoch, you have to check this, to depress it. The opposite of the image. I only unchecked it to check if I choose the correct one. Do you check it? Sorry for jumping not in before. I guessed the other know what you mean. I feel a little bit guilty as I saw now you struggle with this since August 18. Greetings Fabian Edited February 23, 2019 by Fabian
