Fabian
Hello Can anybody explain whats the difference is between the BHQ and The Hebrew Bible: A Critical Edition (HBCE)? In a very short overview (30 seconds) they looks very similar. Thanks. Greetings Fabian
Robert Holmstedt
BHQ is a diplomatic edition, HBCE is eclectic (a novelty in OT studies)
Fabian
Thanks In the meantime I found https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/1c0f/6413cffdb103dd94a85d5f144ca741b18852.pdf Robert do you think the HBCE will have the same impact how the eclectic NA28? Robert Holmstedt
I haven't followed how the HBCE project has developed from its initial stages as the Oxford Hebrew Bible project. Back then, I agreed with Hugh Williamson: https://www.bsw.org/biblica/vol-90-2009/do-we-need-a-new-bible-reflections-on-the-proposed-oxford-hebrew-bible/13/. I suspect most of these reservations still apply, though I am not sure. In general, eclectic texts hold zero value to me as a linguist interested in getting data from a historical artefact.
