Alistair
Regarding the Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary, Can anyone suggest a current (or potential future) Accordance module that would be a close approximation to the AYBD in terms of modern (i.e up-to-date) scholarship, breadth, depth, etc but leaning towards the more conservative end of the spectrum? Rod Decker
One that I hope Accordance will be able to obtain is ZPEB in its forthcoming revision. Zondervan Pictorial Bible Encyl. is not as technical as ABD, but is conservative. Moises Silva has been working full time on the revision for quite a few years. I don't know when it is to be released, but knowing the original edition and Silva's ability as a biblical scholar, I have very optimistic about the new edition. Last I heard he was proofreading, so I'd guess the writing is finished, but it's a mammoth project to proof. (I just checked and noted that the current ed of ZPEB is included in the Zondervan Scholarly Bible Study Suite, and that has a lot of other good materials included as well, so perhaps not need to wait.) Of what's available now, also check the Essential IVP Reference Collection (& I see it's on sale); too bad it doesn't include the OT dictionary series, but IVP's "black" NT dictionaries are there--and quite good. (I do not recommend the ISBE that's listed--it's the old edition; OK for some things, but 100 years old now.)
