Want to second the OP's comments about speed. Languages brought me to Accordance, and fast keeps me on Accordance.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm and kind comments. You make our work worthwhile. And, yes, we have a company policy about not commenting on other Bible software programs. We try to put all our energy into making Accordance the best Bible software program we can.

That is a REALLY admirable trait in a company, especially in technology. Don't get me started on Nvidia.

I do have a comment on this, actually.

I first wanted to get Logos because it was the only thing I knew of that was this sort of thing. Then I saw the price. I am a very poor person on SSI - there is no way I can either afford or justify buying Logos with that price tag for just the intro version. You get WAY more for your money with Accordance in terms of material.

Jesse - in their defence, the app itself is free and there's an abundance of free resources, including some really good ones - SBL GNT, Lexham Bible Dictionary, Faithlife Study Bible etc. You'll hit the limits of the free version, for sure, but it's still a capable offering.

For people on a really tight budget I'd recommend Logos over Accordance (provided they had a fast enough machine to run it without it being too painful). For people on a moderate budget, I'd go with Accordance - especially for OL stuff - you can unlock all the features for a really low price and get some really well-tailored bundles. For a high budget? I couldn't give a universal answer.

One of Accordance's guiding principles is that the Bible is always front and central. Everything else is secondary.

I'm still waiting for more Bibles in different languages. When will they come?

Greetings

Fabian

Now the competitor is not even compatible with anti-virus softwares on Windows anymore: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/183380/1062214.aspx#1062214
Their efforts are just resulting in the end in heaping more new problems and with that customer and technical support costs. They are not going to email all customers about that simple step since they have for several Years permeated most customers' email inboxes with trash-like offers and hoops to jump with unexpected or unknown deadlines for getting the most out of being a customer. I have ignored almost everything they push or email about for about a Year, and am now blissfully unaware since about half a Year about ALL emails. I'm detoxed from their system's biased set of ways to do things.
They also have lots of geographical purchase-restrictions now, unlike any other vendor of any kind.
Like I said previously: They have a way of skewing what all things they will offer, they really disarm some customers from possibilities and love some others though with pretty low-quality or ignorant parts with regards to most things purchasable.
Their inovations are drowned in how little parity there is with actual insight.
It's not the best way to understand truths.

I would just not agree with this sentiment. Faithlife is not optimal for Study Bibles, offers only highly random picks as free or very cheap books if You are not subscribed to Connect. Even the current WORDsearch Perks program offer is an option with more choices:

Now a bug that has been gone for nine Years,

resurfaces under the competitor's platform:

https://community.logos.com/forums/p/183383/1062207.aspx#1062207

I called the competitor yesterday by phone and asked some questions about their Connect-subscription. The Connect subscribers no-longer get early access to ANY features, not even once a Year, and no offline features are developed for Connect subscribers anymore. Their subscriptions used to be about supporting the development of the software, now it is just for those who spend a lot on resources (books) per Year, i.e. add-ons. They've now also discontinued the any-time extra percentage discount for base-packages/Libraries for Connect-subscribers:

I don't recommend owning another platform just for a few commentaried.

[...]

I agree, students pick up the use of Accordance's UI. Which I can't say as much about the other platforms. I've given this weight for 3½ Years.

[...]

If You compare Verbum with Accordance, it becomes obvious both from the software architecture and the list of added datasets, that it (Verbum) is like what the term the user who has had Accordance for the longest time is sort of blaming Accordance for, if You look at Verbum this ongoing Winter: https://www.accordancebible.com/forums/topic/22820-lexicon-selection-by-text-type/?p=116395

In another thread (emphasis mine in the quote from it below)https://www.accordancebible.com/forums/topic/21650-the-sad-state-of-mobile-bible-software/?p=105518

That's a good point! I had not even kept in mind how limiting MS Word and Excel truly are!:

Yet another thread, in which I also link at the end to the thread by R. Mansfield -- where his greatest blog post is linked: https://www.accordancebible.com/forums/topic/20932-accordance-has-risen-to-the-top/

It's still not compatible with anti-virus softwares (the competitor).

Under the competitor You definitely don't get an adequate base to start out with for under $2,500 - and it costs if You keep buying add-ons and/or upgrade with Feature Sets with major software versions. They don't release any substantial NEW datasets anylonger.

From this Autumn and on I would advise to stay away from it! If You have it: Don't upgrade with boxed products: Those are as unbalanced and fairly unspecialised as ever. About 96 out of a hundred package deals from them contain only junk. There isn't an easy way to shop with them or to know whether You get the best resources. They have practically no high-end options, what they have will be gone without a trace in a moment, in a couple of Weeks, and is something You could have collected under Accordance for cheap during this ongoing Year anyway.

In three words: Don't support them!!

Accordance will likely sail to the top leaving the competition behind, with regards to configuration of content in Collections vs. the equivalent elsewhere (the competition is not continuously offering their best setups - only very temporarily), research-capability of features, and the prevailing atmosphere of users getting highly competent help and very relevant discussion, continued excellent focus on areas that actually may matter to users, usability, a well-built interface, quick releases of high-end (reference) works, better support of languages both Hebrew, Greek and other ANE ones, a much better pricing philosophy with upgrade options, smoother end-user experience of how to participate in sales campaigns, a healthier cost-structure of the company, a highly sustainable development effort structure, and adding an ear listening yet closer to demand for particulars, and a recognition as the very best alternative for the majority of users - which I hope will spread in the way good rumor spreads via content customers that buy yet more and more.

There is a bug in the competitor's version 8 software which has been thoroughly reported but has never even been admitted by FL that it exists: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/185269/1068501.aspx#1068501 (follow the link to see the reports), and
… it impacts notes over there. Since they're obviously not taking action (it may be that the bug is so deep within the software and regrettable in their rewriting of that part of the engine, that they are hoping to suppress uproar and planning on not doing anything about it, to save on programming expenses and perpetually avoiding having to rewrite notes yet again); this would be a golden opportunity for Accordance to shine by competing them out with regards to a bug-free note-taking environment and interface!

Six Weeks has elapsed and they haven't fixed that resurfaced bug:

Accordance's competitor has slow indexing, in this recent thread no-one is reporting that with a large library the performance is satisfying, far from it: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/185522/1070425.aspx#1070425

And a report that with a HDD use is slow: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/177457/1072121.aspx#1072121

They've had this reading-status bug for over three Months and haven't fixed it: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/182784/1069885.aspx#1069885

Doesn't necessarily utilise RAM: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/177457/1072438.aspx#1072438

Many of the product pages are not up to standards: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/185243/1069434.aspx

Another almost a Month has passed and they haven't acknowledged/fixed - nothing at all has been done about these things:

That incompatilibity on Windows with antivirus-software, has been going on for over two Months, they've not fixed it. If You search antivirus site:community.logos.com one Month back in time there are no search results at all, as You can see. They're not working on fixing it: https://www.google.se/search?q=antivirus+site:community.logos.com&lr=&source=lnt&tbs=qdr:m&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiJ0OTMlbLlAhUSwqYKHS_hCUgQpwUIJw&biw=1920&bih=1083In addition, in the meantime, I haven't encountered a thread or relesea where this would have been announced as fixed:

They don't have rights to BHQ: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/168975/1068698.aspx#1068698

They're not working on updates to Noet - haven't been for over a Year: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/174299.aspx Can't freshly install Noet: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/182745/1069641.aspx#1069641
