Still losing scripture links in user notes

Greetings Accordance Family,

When ever I edit a user note from my iPhone it removes any scripture links that may have been set up. Is there any fix to this yet?

Also,  there is no option for the "Geneva" font from the iPhone side so when I add a verse note from the iPhone it makes it in Helvetica but all my verse notes are in Geneva which I think looks a little better. Is there a fix to this? Can I add Geneva to the accordance on the iPhone?

Blessings to all at Accordance.

Marco

Hi Marco,

The latest version of Accordance Mobile should preserve formatting styles (including scripture links) when editing new user notes (*.amynotes). It should also perform an “auto link” when editing is completed.

What version of Accordance Mobile are you using and are you editing a “new" user notes file (*.amynotes)?

Hi Mike,

I have 2.2.2 on my iPhone.

I'm not sure what you mean by (*.amynote).

I lose the scripture link if I edit an existing note with a link. I haven't tried to make a note with a scripture link from the iPhone.

Are you still on 10 or 11?

If you have 11 then you can choose to convert the old User Notes format to *.amynote. The new User Notes format. Similar from .doc to .docx.

In 2.2.2 you have to go to settings User Notes and the last setting on the bottom is to change to *.amynotes.

I have Accordance 11.1.3 on the apple laptop.

I have a very large user notes file with a lot of formatting. Bold, underlining, and a lot of scripture links.

Will it preserve those if I update?

Thanks

Sync with the Mac and try to convert there. If not, the old ones are still available. In the folder "old User Notes". And as rescue you can then take this again.

Thanks Fabian,

Couldn't find the notes update on the iOS. The last thing on the bottom of the user notes was text size.

Are you saying to do the update on the laptop and then sync my notes to the phone?

I updated my user notes on the laptop and then tried to sync to the iPhone but now it does not sync even though it goes through the process.

I made a test change in a note and it did not transfer to the iPhone during a sync

Maybe I should just delete the file on the phone and do a complete transfer of the user notes to the phone?

No in the order I wrote to you. First sync your phone with the Mac and then convert it there. So you have both on the Mac the old ones and the new *.amynotes.

If you are on the new *.amynotes then sync again. This changes the Notes on the phone to amynotes.

If your lost some formats you can delete the User Notes in the library and take the old one.

If you don't have converted you'll see the button.

You can than also create old User Notes by holding a key (I don't remember which one: alt, shift or ctrl) by creating a new User Notes. For some unicode languages this is still to prefer (I believe chinese, and so)

Well, I deleted the user note in the iPhone and down loaded from the laptop and it seems to have worked.

Funny thing though. This one verse link Jn.15:16 was broken even though the blue text with underline was still there.

I tested editing other notes with scripture links and they did not break. I don't know what is happening here?

It is working for the most part. Thank you very much.

Do you have any word on the iPhone not having the Geneva font option or what I can do there?

I have my user notes in Geneva on the computer and when I edit on the iPhone it changes them back to helvetica when i sync.

Unfortunately no. Except Geneva is in the Helvetic nation.

Here you have to ask an iPhone specialist.

But I can test it short how it behaves by me.

Hello Marco

Maybe you have to delete the User Notes on the iPhone and then sync again.

I remember that the font Cardo makes some problem on the i gadgets.  Maybe Geneva too.

Thats interesting. Does anyone know if that will work (anyfont) on the iPhone with accordance? It might just be me, but it seems Geneva is a little better on the eyes?

I have over a thousand user notes. Will I be able to change all of the font for my verse notes? I have used bold italics, underlining etc.

I tried changing to helvetica in the preference > Text display and user font on the laptop (accordance 11.1.3) then quitting the program and going back into it and then opening a user verse note and it is still Geneva.

I know anyfont from the forum here.

Search for anyfont and you'll find some posts.

Hi Marco,

As Fabian suggested, see for instance http://www.accordancebible.com/forums/topic/12975-installing-custom-fonts-and-keyboards-on-ipad-and-using-them-in-pages/?hl=anyfont .

I don't have an iPhone, but the App Stores says it “requires iOS 8.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.”

Regards,

Michel

Oh No!

I just downloaded the very latest iOS accordance just released and the problem is back.

I go into a user verse note make one change- (a space bar) and it kills my scripture links.

Sheesh.

Hi Marco

I suspect that the old formatted file has reappeared on the iPhone. You may want to contact our tech support (Tech Support line at (407) 339-0266, M-F from 9 AM-6 PM Eastern) or we can try to resolve the issue on the forum.

A couple of questions:

  • How are you syncing Dropbox or WiFi?
  • Are you only syncing between your laptop and your iPhone ?(no other devices)
  • Can you post a screenshot of the verse note that you were editing? (iOS does not support European notation yet and/or might have a bug in “AutoLink”)

Problem solved.

Ryan from tec support showed me that there needs to be a space after a verse reference link as shown here-  Jn. 8:30  which is correct. Jn.8:30 is incorrect because there is no space after the period.  That fixed the problem.

Thanks again Ryan.

God Bless the accordance team.

Hey Marco,

Do you mind emailing me the note so I can take a look? If so, my email is chris@accordancebible.com

Let me know if you need help emailing it.

Thanks,
