Martin Z
Hello, Is there any plan to make Chinese Interface? I really want to introduce Accordance to more Chinese seminary students. A lot of them are not good at English. I was wondering if it is possible to make Accordance interface in Chinese language? I can help with translation if you give me a list. Helen Brown
There are many thousands of lines of messages that would need to be translated, but if you are really willing to donate your time to do it, please contact me off forum.

I certainly would like to. We can gather people like Kit and myself to divide the work, then have a person to check the translations to make sure they are consistent before apply them. I think it does not have to be done in a short time. So, I can devote a few minutes every day to do the translation. Blessings, Martin

Kit
Hey Martin, but i have a question. Even if we have Accordance in Chinese, how do these Chinese seminary students use it, given that all of the resources and modules are in English? Martin Z
Hey Martin, but i have a question. Even if we have Accordance in Chinese, how do these Chinese seminary students use it, given that all of the resources and modules are in English? Good question! This is the next step. When this is done, I'm gonna try to make some Chinese resources. The Chinese Union Bible has been tied with the Strong numbers. Some people have already made all the parsings in Chinese. If Accordance is willing, we can actually make it possible to integrate it into Accordance database. I think it is easier to get the copyright from copyright holders of Chinese resources. Mutien Chen
I am looking forward to see the Chinese bible with strong numbers. Although I am not a technical guy, I am willing to do some works in translation!
Jonathan C. Borland
+1, esp. on the Union Version with Strongs in Accordance!
Martin Z
I have contacted the website which has the Strongs no. tied Chinese Union Version. They are willing to make it available to Accordance. The only problem to them is that they do not have enough volunteers to so such work. (The website is run by volunteers). So, if Accordance is willing to integrate the resource. We'll see if we can find some volunteers. Since the CUV is already tied to the Strongs number. I think it is just a matter of formatting. Or if Accordance allows users to import user Bibles with Strongs number, users will be able to make for themselves.
Helen Brown
We first need to program to allow Unicode Bibles with Strong's numbers or any tagging. Please be patient.

Martin Z
Thanks, Fabian. I don't know what it is used for. Looks like the files given to me are quite similar to those created by this app. Blessings, Martin
Fabian
From the Accordance Facebook site Excuse me, do you have a Chinese version?
Martin Z
There will be a "yes" answer to this question, although I don't know when. It all depends on when the program itself fully supports unicode. I believe the employees are working very hard on this at this moment.

Ιακοβ
There will be a "yes" answer to this question, although I don't know when. It all depends on when the program itself fully supports unicode. I believe the employees are working very hard on this at this moment. The update to accordance 11 seems to have moved across to Cocoa, which means technically it has the ability to operate in a way that supports multiple languages and character sets. So there should no longer be any technical limitation. So hopefully the way is now mostly clear. However there does seem to be limitations in certain places (like greek dropping off out of headings in journals and so fourth), so it seems the code still needs some work to get it where it needs to be. One of the sad problems of software that has been around so long it carries over problems from the days of Ascii/MacRoman.
Mutien Chen
Martin works really hard, I can see the keep updating files. I am quite embarrassed that I only worked for a small part and stopped working on it. Thanks Martin, and hopefully it will finish soon!
Martin Z
I have actually finished all translations. But I need to see how these translations work in the real context, to see if I should make necessary revision. But before that, they need to make the program to fully support Unicode. I don't know how long it will take. Hope it can be done before my Spring semester starts. Otherwise, we will have to wait for my next vacation.
