As the CNTTS database uses the Oxford TR to represent the TR tradition, it would be great to have it in Accordance. I have frequently found differences between the Trinitarian Bible Society's TR we have in Accordance and the data in the CNTTS. I'd like to be able to see all the Greek texts side by side.

This morning I have been looking at James 2:18.  Comfort's Commentary made no sense to me until I looked at the Byzantine 2005.  There is a difference in this verse between the Trinitarian Bible Society's TR that we have in Accordance and the one that is used by Comfort (Stephanus' 1550).  CNTTS uses the Oxford.  I don't know which version of the TR is considered 'standard.'

 

It would be very helpful to have a TR in Accordance that was not adjusted to fit the KJV.  I know that there are differences between it and the MT, but when we don't even have a 'standard' TR (whatever that might be), comparison is made very difficult.  References to the TR in Accordance make little sense without a TR that is 'unadjusted.'

yes I'd like to see the 1873 Oxford TR in accordance since it's what CNTTS uses and is often used at the standard "critical edition" of the TR.

I ran into this again today and sent a probably erroneous correction report to the Accordance folks.

 

At 1Tim 1:4, the NA28th, Byz and Oxford 1873 TR all have οἰκονομίαν according to CNTTS.  The TR (Trinitarian Bible Society) we have in Accordance reads οἰκοδομίαν.

 

Is there any hope at all that we might get the Oxford TR?  Bill Warren at CNTTS obviously has it, and maybe even as an etext?  For those of us interested in text critical issues, this would be a very valuable addition to our Accordance libraries.

Thats very easy to get the Oxford TR.

 

Download Eloquent 2.4.9 App zip. Then run check for  updates under the Help Menu.

 

Make a new start and now you can on the start surface click the button "manage modules". On the left side select the "crossfire" triangle. Choose Biblical Text, go to Oxford TR. On the pull down menu "not installed" you choose install. And then go to the Tool bar and run the right button "Process Task". Now you have it. 

 

For Accordance: Open the Oxford TR and select Matthew and with shift-click Revelation, the whole NT is selected. Sorry I see now only John is available. Anyway, you open it and select all with cmd-A. Copy it and put it in TextWrangler  or from the Mac App Store. Which you prefer. 

 

Then open a search pop-up with cmd-F and activate on the "Grep" on the bottom right. 

As search query use "(\d+)":"(\d+):" without all quotes ( no space between, I have only set quotes because ":"and "(" give a  smiley instead what I want to write) and "replace all" it with "\1:\2" without the quotes. Run "replace all", so the Verse from John 1:1:  change to John 1:1 Save it. Thats necessary for Accordance.

 

If you go in Eloquent to the left side and select the Oxford TR, make a right click and choose "About this module". You'll see the "versification" Thats not always correct because in the German etc. there are many different Version. But you get an idea, which you have to choose as verse mapping to import in Accordance. 

 

Now import it in Accordance  

 

I normally copy the information from the "About this module" to the same in Accordance.

 

Now a negativ info: Till Accordance is full in unicode (hopefully Acc 12 is) you can't use the compare function in Accordance. Otherwise you have to do it with the KJV the same procedure.

I think I'll have to wait until Accordance releases a module for us.  

 

I'm currently buried in 1st year Hebrew and just can't deal with anything else.  I'm finding that the older I get, the harder I have to work.  Currently suffering from vocab overload.  50 new words last week plus a quiz on two chapters plus reading & exercises for the next chapter.  I think there are only 20 vocab words this week.  He says the pace will be slowing down.  I may survive.  And the prof expects us to go from English to Hebrew at times (not whole verses, just a word or two on the vocab list or a short sentence or phrase).  Our pastor, who took Hebrew from Miles Van Pelt, said they weren't required to go English —> Hebrew.

Could someone perhaps prepare this Oxford 1873 TR as an Accordance text and share it on the Accordance Exchange? I'd like to have it as well.
